Expecting A Call
Lord, I know You have great purpose for me and a plan for my life. Open my ears to hear Your voice leading me into all You have for me. Align my heart with Yours and prepare me to understand where You would have me to go and what You would have me to do. Help me to hear Your call. If my expectations and plans are out of alignment with Your will for me, I surrender them to You. I let my desires for myself die. I would rather en- dure the suffering of that than the pain of never realizing what You made me to be.
You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may pro- claim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 PETER 2:9
Lord I exalt You above all things. May Your kingdom come this day and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Help me to embrace the calling You have for me. Show me what it is You want me to do and the timing of when You want me to do it. I know that You have a high purpose for my life. Enable me to e a great ambassador for Your kingdom. May people love You more because of what they see of You in me. Only by the power of Your Spirit can this be accomplished.
We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the ex- cellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 2 CORINTHIANS 4:7
Lord, because I want to hear Your voice say, “Well done, My good and faithful servant,” when I meet You face to face, I want to make sure that I carefully listen to Your voice now. I don’t want to be unfruitful and unful- filled because I never clearly heard Your call. I want You to fill me with Your greatness so that I may do great things for others as You have called me to do. I commit to walking this road step by step with You so that I may fully become all that You have made me to be.
Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him. ISAIAH 43:7
Lord, I know that Your call upon my life includes being a servant, obeying Your commandments, and al- ways growing as a worshiper. Help me to do all of these things according to Your will. Show me where I am fail- ing to do them as fully as You would like. I know I have been called out of darkness to proclaim Your praises. So I proclaim hem this day and say all praise be to You, O Lord of heaven and earth.
Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. ROMANS 8:30

Gospel Concert Planned For New Year’s Day
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Some local residents will begin the arrival of the new year in various ways. Some will begin the night before by attending Watch Night Serv- ices while others may attend the Emancipation Proclamation Service held at a local church.
And for those who still wish to continue the celebration, there is a gospel service planned for later that evening. On New Year’s Day, Pooh & the Inspirations will sponsor a concert at ACOJ New Season Ministries, 2708 E. Osborne Av- enue. The concert will begin at 6 p.m.
Entitled the “Harvest Time Concert,” Pooh McClary, founder of the group said, “It’s a new year and we’re trying to unite the people of the Tampa Bay Area. We are trying to bring lost souls to Christ and we’re hoping and praying someone will get saved this New Year.”
For more than 20 years, McClary and the group has provided gospel entertainment to the community through a variety of concerts and programs.
Several groups will perform, including spe- cial guests, the Spiritual Uplifters, of Flo- rence, South Carolina.
Managed by Ms. Mimi Jones, McClary said the group sings original songs members of the group wrote. He and Sedric Floyd, who was an member of Pooh & the Young Inspi- rations, are two of the writers. Other members are: Joe Williams, Eugene Atkins, Jer- maine Smith, Marlo Kelley, Andrew Holder, and Cicero Carr.
McClary said the group has big plans for the upcoming year. “We are working on a lot of new things for this year.
“We are just inviting everyone to come out and have a good time and celebrate the New Year,” McClary said.
