LeBron James Thinks Trade Rumors Have Been ‘Tough’ On Young Lakers
LEBRON JAMES
LeBron James has never personally dealt with trade ru- mors, but he imagines they’re not easy for a player to deal with.
James’ Los Angeles Lakers got hammered by the Indiana Pacers 136-94 on Tuesday night. The lopsided loss seems to show that the players are not giving max effort because they’re bothered by trade ru- mors.
More than half the team’s players — Lonzo Ball, Bran- don Ingram, Ivica Zubac, Kyle Kuzma, Lance Stephenson, Rajon Rondo and Michael Beasley — have all been mentioned in trade talks for Anthony Davis.
James was asked whether he thought the players were bothered by the rumors and gave a mixed response.
This is what makes trade talks so difficult. When word gets out that an organization is willing to trade you, it’s hard for the player to play inspired ball. The talks also undermine LeBron’s ability to lead be- cause the players know he’s willing to push them out the door. This is a bad situation for the Lakers, especially if they don’t end up acquiring Davis.

Basketball superstar Steph Curry and musician John Legend will be join- ing Barack Obama at this year's My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Alliance Summit.
My Brother’s Keeper, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary, was founded by Obama in 2014 following the killing of Trayvon Mar- tin. The organization aims to help narrow the achievement gap between young men of color and their white coun- terparts.
It became the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance in 2015. In 2017, it became an initiative under the Obama Foundation focusing on building safe spaces for these boys so they can feel valued and continue the road to suc- cess.
This year, MBK Rising! will be held between Febru- ary 18-20 in Oakland, Cali- fornia. Curry, the Warriors point guard, and Legend, both announced they would be participating in the event, which will be attended by hundreds of boys and young

men, on Tuesday morning. “I see my younger self in these young men—full of tal- ent and possibility but un- sure where to go and uncertain that their dreams mattered to their community or country,” said Legend. “That’s why I’m proud to be part of the My Brother’s
Keeper Alliance.”
Curry has been partner-
ing with the MBK alliance for years, even rocking some MBK shoes at a Wizards game last year.
Legend also spoke about the upcoming summit. Echo- ing Curry’s words, the "All of Me" singer spoke on the importance of mentorship.

Barnes, 26, is averaging 17.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and making 39 percent of his threes this season. He has a

76ers Acquire Tobias
Harris, Boban Marjanovic In
Major Trade With Clippers
The Philadelphia 76ers are going all-in on this year’s team, while the Los Angeles Clippers are loading up on as- sets.
The Sixers acquired To- bias Harris in a trade with the Clippers on Tuesday night. The 76ers are receiving To- bias Harris, Boban Mar- janovic and Mike Scott from the Clippers. In return, the Clippers are receiving Landry Shamet, Wilson Chandler, Mike Muscala and four picks. The picks are the big part for the Clippers: they’re receiving a 2020 first- rounder, Miami’s unprotected 2021 first-round pick, and two second-round picks (2021 and 2023).
The Clippers wanted the

draft picks to attached in other potential trades to entice play- ers who want to join the fran- chise. Such players include Anthony Davis, who had the Clippers on his list of teams with whom he’d sign long term, and Kristaps Porzingis, who also had the Clippers on his list.
