SISTER MARY D. ALEXANDER WRIGHT
Sister Mary D. Alexander Wright of Tampa passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Funeral services will be con- ducted Saturday, February 9 at 10 a. m. at Springhill Mission- ary Baptist Church, 8119 E. Dr. MLK, Jr. Blvd., with Reverend Eugene Garnett, Pastor, offici- ating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Sister Mary D. Alexander Wright, the 7th child of Henry and Mosie Robinson Alexan- der, was a native of Camilla, Georgia and a resident of Tampa for many years. As a young adult she was united in marriage to Willie James Wright, Sr. To this union four children were born of which two preceded her in death, Willadean and Robert.
After relocating to Tampa, Mary joined Springhill M. B. Church. She was very faithful to God, her family and her church family. Sister Mary was chosen by many to become their grandmother or mother figure because of the love she showed to all.
She leaves loving and pre- cious memories forever in the hearts of: her son, Johnnie Wright “Butch,” Willie James Wright, Jr. “Sandy” and wife, Janet; grandchildren, Regi- nald Carter (Kenia), Kevin Wright of Atlanta, GA, Ronald Wright of Boston, Massachu- setts, Eugene Wright of At- lanta, GA, Latonya Campbell (Nakia) of Bradenton, FL, An- gela Johnson of Tampa, FL, Tangela Johnson of New York, NY; great- grandchildren, Bri- anna Pompilus, Raijahna Carter and Raven Carter; great-great grandchildren, Llotes Pompilus, III, Riley Pompilus, Jaiden Campbell, Brielle Campbell, Alexis Pal- more and Ronald Nelson; sis- ters, Dorothy Warren of Atlanta, GA, Phenia Sheffield of Valdosta, GA and Vera Jack- son of Miami, FL; very special friend like a sister, Mrs. Annie Bell Brown Myers; goddaugh- ter, Kay Powell; god- grand- daughter, Brandi Ahonsi; Reverend Eugene and Mrs. Katie Garnett and her Springhill Church family, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The remains will repose and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p. m. Fri- day, February 8, at Springhill M. B. Church.

MR. WILBERT LEE SHORTER
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Wilbert Lee Shorter, who passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019, will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, 11 a. m. at Greater Mt. Carmel AME Church, 4209 N. 34th Street, Tampa, FL 33610, Rev., R. A. Polk, pastor, officiating. The in- terment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Wilbert Lee Shorter was born in Reynolds, Georgia to the late Horsley Shorter, Sr., and Hattie Lee Shorter. Wilbert at- tended the schools of Macon County, GA. At an early age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Free Run Baptist Church in Reynolds, GA.
In 2008, Wilbert moved his membership to Greater Mt. Carmel AME Church, where he remained a member until his de- mise. Mr. Shorter was an awe- some husband, excellent son, great brother, goddad, uncle, nephew, friend and neighbor. Wilbert was a loving and caring man and would go over and above to help in any way he could. Mr. Shorter worked as a truck driver for many years be- fore his retirement.
Wilbert was preceded in death by: his parents, Horsley Shorter, Sr. and Hattie Lee Shorter; and brother, Horsley Shorter, Jr.
Mr. Wilbert Lee Shorter leaves to cherish his memories with: a loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Mary Ann Shoemake Shorter; loving and devoted brothers-in-law, Eddie Show- make, Jr. and George Williams; 6 siblings, Ozie Carson, Annie Lee Shorter, Ella Coleman, David Shorter (Ruby), Clarence Shorter (Stephanie) of Mont- gomery, AL, Trinetta Williams (George); sister-in-law, Annie Fipps; niece that is like a daugh- ter, Willette Streets of Redland, CA; goddaughter, Calandra Bai- ety Williams, Carla Andrew and kids, Raneo Rolle, Solewood An- drews and Sade Wood Andrews; god-niece, Cheri Wright-Jones; god-nephews, Sam Jones and Alex Jones; loving and devoted aunt, Helen Jefferson; loving and devoted neighbor and friend, Isreal Graham (Gwen); and a host of other loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends; caregivers, Burgundy Hospice Team and Rev. R. A. Polk and Greater Mt. Carmel Church Family.
The visitation will be held on Friday, February 8th from 5 to 7 p. m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p. m.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
