Actor Reynaldo Rey Dies

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Long-time Hollywood actor Reynaldo Rey has passed away at the age of 75 due to stroke complica- tions, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Mostly known for his comedic roles in popular Black films like White Men Can’t Jump, House Party 3 and Friday, Rey maintained a steady presence on the movie and television scenes for over two decades.
He began his acting career in 1982, but first made his

mark with a role in Harlem Nights. He later went on to make television appearances on popular TV shows like Everybody Hates Chris and The Bernie Mac Show. He also spent 18 years as the opener for legendary San- ford and Sons comedic actor Red Foxx.
Renaldo Rey was born in Oklahoma, but made his home in several states throughout his life including Ohio and New York City. May he rest in peace.

BET Freelancer Dies After Getting Butt Injections
Kelly Mayhew, a 34- year-old Maryland woman, was having silicone injected into her buttocks to enlarge them Saturday, her mother told police, when she became short of breath, was rushed to a nearby hospital and died, the New York Daily News reports.
Mayhew, a freelancer for BET Networks, was having the cosmetic procedure ad- ministered in the basement of a Queens, N.Y., home by a woman posing as a creden- tialed plastic surgeon, the Daily News explains. When the woman injected silicone into Mayhew’s butt, May- hew began “gurgling” and experiencing difficulty breathing. Mayhew’s mother, who had driven with

her to the location, tried to administer CPR on her
daughter and asked the woman who had given her the injection to call 911, the Daily News reports.
Instead, the woman ran out of the house, got into a gray SUV and fled, sources told the Daily News. May- hew was taken to a local hospital, where she died. Mayhew’s sister described her shock on Facebook.
Mayhew and her mother drove from Maryland to Queens so that Mayhew could have the procedure. Her mother told police that Mayhew had had five previ- ous butt-enhancement pro- cedures before Saturday’s fatal incident. Authorities were looking for the uniden- tified woman who injected Mayhew.
Colorado Lunch Manager Fired For Giving Food To Hungry Children
A former elementary school employee is not sorry
she broke the law when she decided to give school lunches to kids who didn’t have money for food, CBS Denver reports.
Della Curry, who worked as a kitchen manager at Dakota Valley Elementary School in Aurora, Colo., was fired by the Cherry Creek School District after break- ing the rules and feeding the children.
“I had a first-grader in front of me, crying, because she doesn’t have enough money for lunch. Yes, I gave her lunch,” Curry said, un- apologetically. “I’ll own that I broke the law. The law needs to change.”

“I will never understand how the ‘best’ country in the world considers a cheese sandwich to be adequate nu- trition for a child. I will never understand how one of the richest countries in the world cannot provide lunch for its children,” the mother of two said in a Facebook post.
