AIKENS
HATTIE MAE NELSON
A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Hattie Mae “Honey” Nelson, of Tampa, FL., who passed away on June 28, 2022, will be held on Saturday, July 9th , 11:00 a.m.., at Life in Christ Community Church, 9706 N. 26th Street, Tampa, FL. 33612, with Rev. Shannon Kilpatrick, officiating, and Pas- tor Arthur Randall, eulogizing.
Hattie affectionately nick- named, “Honey”, was born June 18, 1938, in Calhoun, Georgia, to the late Marcellus B. Lang and Bula Brown. She was educated in Hillsborough County Public Schools. She had seven children: five girls and two boys. She was best known as “Hurricane Hattie”, driving fast and fighting. She taught most of her children and grandchildren how to drive. Her favorite hobbies were fish- ing and listening to old blues music.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Bula Brown and Marcellus B. Lang; her husbands, Junior Nelson and Robert Holmes; her daughters, Linda Nelson, Faye Nelson, and Renee Riddle.
She leaves precious memo- ries with: her children, Cheyenne Riddle, Sharlietta McDaniel (Cedric Gilbert), Sandra Thomas, and Samuel Thomas (Felicia Thomas); grandchildren, Shawn Jack- son, Jabri Reed, Vanessa Rid- dle, Shamika Riddle, Teisa Riddle, Natausha Sawyer (Marck Alegria), Noland Mc- Daniel Jr., Nolanda McDaniel (Phillip Henry), Kenya Frezzell, Ezekiel Thomas, Ne- hemiah Thomas, Thomas Booker, Janaka Menedez, Navaskey Sanders, Antonio Thomas (Tyca Thomas), Andre Thomas, Jacquelyn Thomas, Brittney Thomas, Tiana Thomas, Travontae Thomas, Eric Morrison, Maurice Walker, Samuel Thomas III; 25 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Marcellus Lang, Sr.; sister, Georgia Mae Carnegie; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; special family mem- ber, Albert Vann.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, July 8th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service. The repast will imme- diately follow the service. We are following CDC guidelines.
LEONARD LEON THOMPSON
ALPHONSO PRATER
Homegoing services for Mr. Alphonso Prater who passed away on June 28, 2022 will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 2 P.M. at Harmon Funeral Home 5002 N. 40th St., Tampa, FL 33610 Apostle Andrew Holder, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Alphonso Prater was born October 1, 1944 in Miami, Florida. He was the fourth old- est of 5 children born to Earl and Beatrice Clark. Alphonso was loved and raised by his aunt and uncle, Zoila and Zena Prater in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was educated in the
Palm Beach County school sys- tem and worked as a landscaper in the Palm Beach area.
Alphonso, affectionately known as Al by his family and friends, loved watching basket- ball and fishing with his brother, Albert. Al was loved by everybody who knew him. Al- though he had a quiet de- meanor, you would know what Al meant when he said it with- out him raising his voice. Today as we remember Al, we remem- ber him as a loving, caring and humble person with a big heart. Al loved spending time with his family and his special friend, Ms. Saundra Hill.
On June 28, 2022, Alphonso Prater departed this life leaving memories that will remain in our hearts forever.
Al was preceded in death by: his parents, Earl and Beatrice; his aunt and uncle, Zoila and Zena; and his sisters, Audrey, Flora and Emma Jean.
Al leaves to cherish his memories yet celebrate his life: his brother, Albert Clark; his special friend, Saundra Hill and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
HARMON
A Homegoing visitation for Mr. Leonard L. Thompson of Tampa FL, who passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022, will be held on Monday, July 11th, 10:00 a.m., at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. The interment will fol- low in Florida National Ceme- tery, Bushnell, Florida.
Leonard, affectionately nick- named “Pig” and “Fox”, was born on February 15, 1942 in Lockesburg, Arkansas to Kermit and Callie (Counts) Thompson.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Kermit and Cal- lie(Counts) Thompson; son, Leonard Thompson, Jr.; brother, Kenneth Thompson, Sr.; sisters, P. Oneida Thomp- son, Jimmie Peachlum, Ruby Nathan, Panchita Bethune, and P. Oleda Thompson.
He leaves memories with: his daughter, Nichelle Johnson (Terry); son, Brian Thompson; stepdaughter, Shannon Romey; grandsons, Jonathon Forbes and Andrew and Darrin Thomp- son; granddaughter, Candace Thompson; brother, Leslie Dale Thompson (Azalia); a host of many nieces, nephews, and cousins; former wife, Shirley A. Thompson; and family friend, Denise Diaz.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday for the visita- tion. We are following CDC guidelines.
KECIA HENRIETTA CORNISH
Funeral services for Ms. Kecia Henrietta Cornish of 12711 N 19th Street, Apt. 104 who passed away at a local hospital on June 17th 2022 will be held Saturday July 9, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Harmon Fu- neral Home 5002 N. 40th Street Tampa, Florida 33610. Family members will share their memo- ries in the order of reflections.
Ms. Kecia Cornish was pre- ceded in death by: her mother, Mary Ann Cornish and her fa- ther, Henry Louis Cornish.
She leaves to cherish memo- ries of her: son, Kevin Sabb; daughters, LaToya Lavender, Tamara Lavender, and Sade Lavender; six grandsons, Kevin, Dontavius, Zion, Frederick, Kilo and Kayden; Granddaughter, Riley Kecia Simone; sister, Gyrene Johnson; brothers, Henry (Hank) Callum, Henry (Ab) Cornish, and Robert Cor- nish; uncles, George Bryant, and Joe Bryant; aunts, Brenda Bryant and Patricia Bryant and a host of other relatives and friends.
A native of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Ms. Cornish had resided in the Tampa Bay area for a num- ber of years. Kecia enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. We will always remember you being there for us.
