Two Complete Basic Military Training
Two young adults with ties to the Tampa Bay Area have completed their basic military training. Their respective grad- uation ceremonies took place at the Joint Base San Antonio, in San Antonio, Texas.
Air Force Airman Tabitha C. Alcott and Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jared P. Robey com- pleted an intensive eight-week program that included military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fit- ness and basic warfare princi- ples and skills.
Both also received four credit hours towards an Asso- ciate in Applied Science De-
gree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Airman Alcott is the daughter of David H. Alcott, of Tampa, and Tammy L. Al- cott, of Dover, Alabama. She graduated from Steinbrenner High School in 2014.
Airman Robey is the son of Leslie A. Robey, of Green Cove Springs, and the brother of Caitlyn A. Robey, of Tampa. He graduated from Clay High School, in Green Cove Springs, in 2014.
Army Enlistee Completes Basic Combat Training
U. S. Army enlistee, Pri- vate Kristopher A. Davis recently completed require-
ments and graduated from basic combat training. The graduation ceremony was held at Fort Jackson, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Private Davis success- fully completed a nine-week training course that focused on the Army mission, history, tra- dition and core values, physi- cal fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training.
He also received training in rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, military justice, and basic first aid, among other areas.
Private Davis is the son of Nicole Shaw, of Temple Terrace. He graduated from Tampa Bay Technical High School in 2012.

Forever Stamp To Honor Maya Angelou
The U. S. Postal Service will honor the late Ms. Maya Angelou with a Forever Stamp. Ms. Angelou was a beloved author, poet, actress and champion of equality — with a Forever Stamp.
The Postal Service will preview the stamp and provide details on the date and location of the first- day-of-issuance ceremony at a later date.
Maya Angelou was born April 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri. She is known for her memoir released in 1969, entitled, “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings.” She made literary history as the first African American female non-fiction best-seller.
In 1971, Ms. Angelou published the Pulitzer Prize-nominated poetry collection “Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'Fore I Die.”
She later wrote the poem “On the Pulse of Morning,” which became one of her most famous works. She recited the poem in 1993, at President Bill Clinton’s inauguration.
Ms. Angelou was the recipient of several honors throughout her career, including two NAACP Image Awards in the outstanding literary work (nonfiction) category, in 2005 and 2009. She died on May 28, 2014.

New Movie Being Shot In The Bay Area
Movie director, Tim Burton, is filming a new movie, “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” in the Tampa Bay area.
Almost 26 years after filming portions of “Edward Scissorhands” in the Tampa Bay area, Burton is re- turning.
Burton will be filming in the area for two weeks, and the movie will star Eva Green. It is based on a novel by Florida native, Ransom Riggs.
Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties provided $100,000 in incentives to be paid after the production documents that it reached agreed upon spending thresholds.
