Local
Organization To Host Annual ‘Feeding The Community’ Event
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
On Saturday, November 14th, a Multi-Cultural Celebra- tion for the Family and Com- munity will take place. The event is sponsored by the East Tampa Business & Civic Asso- ciation.
The Thanksgiving Feast will take place at the 29th Street Church Of Christ, 3310 N. 29th Street, between the hours of 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The East Tampa Business & Civic Association launched its “Thanksgiving Outreach Feed The Community” Event five years ago. The feast offers those in attendance a tradi- tional Thanksgiving meal pre- pared by volunteers.
Ms. Dianne Hart, Presi- dent of the East Tampa Busi- ness & Civic Association said, “This is a multi-cultural cele- bration. In the past, hundreds have come out, drawn by a warm meal, clothing give- aways, and most importantly, the love of Christ.”
She further stated that the event, which is free and open to the public is made possible not only by the volunteers who serve the meal, but also by the

donations of those wishing to help families in need during the holiday season.
“We are asking members of the community to show sup- port by donating non-perish- able food items or cash to the East Tampa Business and Civic Association.
Ms. Hart further said, “We know that many of the students are required to fulfill their community service hours. They can come out and volunteer during this event.
We have the forms for them. “During this time of year, everyone is offering Thanks- giving meals to the needy. We are asking for donations of non-perishable items so that we can give those who attend a bag of groceries to take home with them. We want to feed them more than just one meal. But, the event is not just lim- ited to needy families. It is open to the community and everyone is invited to come out
and join us.”
Donations can be dropped
off at the East Tampa Business & Civic Association Office, 2814 N. 22nd Street, Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. All donations are tax de- ductible.
Donations will be accepted until Friday, November 13th.
Anyone wishing to obtain more information, make dona- tions, or who wants to volun- teer, can contact the East Tampa Business and Civic As- sociation at (813) 248-3977; email the organization at etbca@tampabay.rr.com.

The Pioneers legacy began
in 1911 with 734 members (in- cluding Alexander Graham Bell). In the beginning, friend- ship and fellowship were what it was all about.
There are several chapters throughout the country whose mission is to be recognized as world-class leaders in volun- teerism.
Today, the organization is the world’s largest group of in- dustry-specific employees and retirees dedicated to commu- nity service.
Pioneers volunteer more than 15 million hours annually responding to the individual needs of their respective com- munities.
