Tom Brady Opens
Falcons Name Starting QB For 2022 Season
MARCUS MARIOTA
It’s only day 1 of training camp and the Atlanta Falcons have confirmed who their starting quarterback will be for the 2022-23 season.
In fact, there was absolutely no hesitation when QB coach Charles London announced Marcus Mariota as the team’s starter.
“Obviously, we’ve got a plan for each of them. Marcus is the starter,” London said. “That’s how we’re going into this thing.”
Mariota Was Their QB1 All Along
Despite drafting rookie QB Desmond Ridder in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Falcons had plans all along to use Mar- iota as their starter.
“We’ve added competition certainly,” head coach Arthur Smith said back in May. “Marcus being the veteran gives us a chance going for- ward. As with any position on this team, the best player is going to play, but obviously, Marcus being the vet, that’s the way it’ll go starting out.”
This is a solid move, specif- ically for the Falcons, who are still in a rebuilding stage. Any NFL player will tell you that the transition from the college level to the next level isn’t easy. Rid- der will spend most of his “off” time studying the playbook in order to build trust with his teammates and coaches. Not to mention that the Falcons’ schedule this season is a tough one for any rookie as the team faces Tom Brady twice (again) along with Super Bowl Champs LA Rams and runner- up Cincinnati Bengals.
Ridder will be the Falcons QB2 and spend the season learning from the six-year vet- eran.
That brings us to QB3.
Second-year quarterback/ tight end, Feleipe Franks, will get some QB reps during camp as the Falcons’ emer- gency quarterback, coach Smith confirmed.

NFL World Reacts
What's the hard- est part about par- enting?
For most people, it's probably just time - it's a 24/7/365 job, after all - but for Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen, it's something different.
Wealth.
Brady, a seven- time Super Bowl champion, admitted that he and his wife's ginormous bank ac- counts are the most- difficult aspect of their kids.

should try being poor for a day or two!) And, maybe Brady shouldn't have taken a $960,855 PPP loan?" an- other fan wondered.
Others, though, like Brady's honesty.
"Just read a great article about Tom Brady. His biggest challenge as a parent is his wealth. I thought about itandIgetit.MyDadisaself made man. I remember our wealth as a family kept ex- panding as I got older.
BythetimeIwasinmy 20's, my Dad was an ex- tremely wealthy man fully equipped with a Cruisers Yacht parked at the Went- worth in New Castle NH. Boyfriends had new expecta- tions of me. A parent's wealth is NOT a kid's wealth. Hard lesson," one fan added.
Robert Griffin, III
came into the defense of his fellow NFL quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson after the two received what he feels are undeserved criticisms from anonymous defensive coordi- nators.
To be fair to RG3, he has every reason to be disap- pointed with the comments about Mahomes and Jack- son. For one, Mahomes has already won the Super Bowl and has always put the Kansas City Chiefs to suc- ceed.
Meanwhile, aside from
the 2021 season, Jackson has led the Baltimore Ravens to the playoffs every year since arriving back in 2018. Put simply, he helped make the team to be postseason fix- tures.
Despite their accomplish- ments, though, they received criticisms from experienced defensive play-callers in a re- cent report by The Athletic that aims to rank the QBs by tier. One said Mahomes is not a Tier 1 because if some- one takes his first read away, he just “runs, he scrambles and he plays streetball.” Question : Is Griffin a hater?
“We have people that clean for us. We have people that make our food. We have people that drive us to the airport if we need that .... We get off a plane and there’s people waiting there for us and we get ushered in,” Brady said.
“That’s my kids’ reality, which is the hard part, to say, ‘Guys, this is not the way re- ality really is,” he added.
While there's certainly va- lidity to what Brady is say- ing, most NFL fans don't want to hear it.
"Who wants to hear about tone-deaf, wealth problems?" one fan tweeted.
"Tom Brady: wealth is the “hardest thing” about raising their children. (He
49ers Officially Release Former Pro Bowler Dee Ford
The San Francisco 49ers have officially released a for- mer Pro Bowl player.
The Niners announced last Wednesday that they have released Dee Ford. The move was expected ever since 49ers GM John Lynch said the team was planning to re- lease Ford once the sides worked out some details.
Ford’s career with the 49ers amounts to nothing short of a disappointment.
The Niners acquired Ford in a March 2019 trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. Ford was coming off a 13-sack sea-
