Shots Fired Into Home Leave Man In Critical Condition
Two Arrested In Shooting At West Tampa Park
An early morning shooting on Wednesday has left a 42- year-old man in critical condi- tion. The shooting took place at 8714 N. 48th Street.
According to the Tampa Police Department, at ap- proximately 4:45 a.m., police received a 9-1-1 call in refer- ence to a person being shot. When officers arrived at the home, they discovered that Horace Tyron Fowler had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency personnel re- sponded and treated Fowler at the scene before transport- ing him to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Officers responded to the shooting at Salcines Park, at the corner of Main Street and Howard Avenue, shortly after 10 p.m. When officers ar- rived, they discovered both
men had been shot. Detectives said the shoot-
ing did not appear to be ran- dom. After the shooting, Ms. Yarelys Marie Ortiz, 20, and 22-year-old Roberto Ramirez were quickly iden- tified as suspects in the shoot- ing.
Detectives located a resi- dence where the two may be and conducted surveillance. Once it was determined that
Ms. Ortiz and Ramirez were inside the residence, they were taken into custody without any further incidents.
Ms. Ortiz was charged with 1 count of aggravated battery with great bodily harm. Her bond was set at $15,000.
Ramirez was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $20,000.

Mother Of Child Who Shot Himself Faces Neglect Charge
Teacher Charged With Child Abuse For Allowing Boy, 14, To Drive

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., on the morning of January 24th, deputies responded to the accidental injury of a child. The child had appar- ently shot himself after finding a loaded gun.
The unidentified child was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in serious condition.Thechildandhis siblings have since been re- moved from the home.
On Tuesday, the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Office arrested the child’s mother, Ms. Delicia D. Forte and charged her with aggravated child neglect re- sulting in serious injury. She was released from the Hillsborough County Jail after posting a $7,500 bond.
A Hillsborough County teacher has been arrested and charged with child abuse. She is accused of al- lowing a 14-year-old to drive a vehicle.
According to the Tampa Police Department, officers stopped a 2005 Toyota 4- Runner at Kennedy Blvd., and Westland Avenue on April 2nd. They stopped the vehicle because they sus- pected the driver of being under the influence.
However, when the offi- cers approached the vehicle, they realized that the driver was a 14-year-old boy. They also learned that Ms. Terra Crescentia Virgin, 32, was in the passenger seat.
Police said Ms. Virgin was intoxicated and had an open container of beer in the vehicle. They also said she allowed the child to drive knowing that he was too young to have a license.
The boy is the son of her boyfriend. The child was transported and released into the custody of his fa- ther.
Ms. Virgin is a Math
teacher at Freedom High School. A spokesperson for the Hillsborough County School District said Ms. Virgin was hired in 2013. Prior to being assigned to Freedom High School a week ago, she worked at Ben Hill Middle School. She has been ordered to meet with the Office of Professional Standards, the spokesperson said.

Ms. Forte’s boyfriend, Akia A. Thomas, 26, was home when the child acci- dentally shot himself. He was arrested shortly after the shooting and charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, 9 counts of possession of am- munition by a convicted felon, unsafe storage of a firearm, and possession of cocaine. He has remained in jail since the shooting. His bond was set at $54,000.
The shooting took place at the Key Vista Apart- ments.
Officials said the child’s mother had gone to take of one her other children to school when the shooting took place.
