As an alumna of Spelman College, Mrs. Brown eagerly committed her time, talent and treasures to her beloved Alma Mater. Some of her many achievements include: recogni- tion as a leadership donor at Spelman reunion celebrations, Life Member of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College and a charter mem- ber of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the NAASC.
Spelman Alumna Anna Ivery Beauford said, “Mrs. Brown worked endlessly by encouraging local alumna to help her establish our charter, rebuild our chapter, and keep our beloved Spelman College in the forefront of today’s young women who are college bound”.

essay titled, “The Importance of Early Childhood Education for the African- American Child.”
The inaugural $1,000.00 scholar- ship was presented to Miss Seana Deas, a native of Stone Mountain,
GA, a lifelong member of Girl Scouts of America, and an honor student at Spelman. Currently, she is research- ing the effects of parental involve- ment on the success of elementary age students, particularly those with
disabilities. Her future career plans are to teach elementary school, earn a master’s degree in special education with a concentration on behavioral disabilities, earn a doctorate degree in educational leader- ship, and become a school level administrator.
Mrs. Darele Brown Campbell says, “It is so sa- tisfying for my family to honor my mother through a finan- cial award to an outstanding Spelman scholar such as Seana. Her current activities and career goals mirror my mother’s intentions to create a desire for learning in chil- dren at the beginning of their school experience. I have no doubt, Seana will be a suc- cessful and effective leader in the field of early childhood ed- ucation.”
