Lightning CEO Resigns; Heads To NFL
Jameis Winston Says He's 'Back At A Good Weight' As Camp Looms
Jameis Winston's weight is right where he wants it to be with the Tampa Bay Bucca- neers scheduled to hold their first practice of training camp Saturday.
"I'm 236 [pounds] right now," the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft said Tuesday. And I know in this Tampa heat during training camp, I'm going to lose a little bit more. I'm back at a good weight. I'm just looking forward to going out there and balling out.
Winston's comments came after he and the other Tampa Bay rookies took part in a bowling event with members of Tampa's Fire and Rescue Department. The first-year

players reported Monday night and are going through meetings before the veterans report Friday.
Miami Dolphins Bring Back Josh Freeman
On Friday, Tampa Bay Lightning CEO Tod Leiweke resigned and is moving on from the billion dollar house he helped build.
Leiweke is well-known around the area after arriving in 2010 when Jeff Vinik pur- chased the team. He was hired away from the Seahawks, who ended up winning the Super Bowl not long after. He was also key in recruiting key play- ers on Vinik’s development

FSU’s Jimbo Fisher And Jameis Winston Team Up Again At Rays Game
It’s always football season in Florida.
Nowhere may that be truer than in Tampa. However, the Rays know how to keep base- ball fun and exciting. Although they are striving to get to .500, they added the love of the Florida State Seminoles and the Tampa Buccaneers fans to the mix on Sunday against the Orioles.
So when the Rays took the field on Sunday to host Balti- more, the battle for third place in the AL East was only the desert. The main course came before the game as Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher

Winston was also a pitcher at Florida State, but on this day, he was behind the plate, setting up the target for his old coach.
In a surprising move, the Miami Dolphins have re- signed quarterback Josh Free- man after cutting him just four days ago, the team announced Tuesday.
It's unclear at this time why Miami cut Freeman last week only to re-sign him one day be- fore players report for training camp -- the reason could be as simple as contract language.
The okey doke is just another odd twist in the signal-caller's career, which nosedived from promising young talent to camp arm in short order.
Freeman will enter camp as the third quarterback behind starter Ryan Tannehill and backup Matt Moore. The Dol- phins also have McLeod Bethel-Thompson, who spent last season on the prac- tice squad, on the roster.
Despite being re-signed, Freeman is a long shot to make the final 53-man roster, barring injury or shockingly brilliant play from the 27-year- old passer.
Tom Brady Loses Appeal; Suspension Upheld
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has upheld New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's four-game sus- pension for his alleged in- volvement in the Deflategate scandal, the league announced Tuesday.
In its ruling, the NFL re- jected Brady's appeal be- cause it found he purposely tried to impede the league's in- vestigation by destroying his cell phone.
Goodell "found that Brady’s deliberate destruc- tion of potentially relevant ev- idence went beyond a mere failure to cooperate," the NFL stated.
Based on the Wells Report and the evidence presented at the hearing, Commissioner Goodell concluded in his de- cision that Brady was aware of, and took steps to support, the actions of other team em- ployees to deflate game foot-

balls below the levels called for by the NFL's Official Playing Rules, the statement contin- ued.
Brady appealed the suspen- sion during a 10-hour meeting at NFL headquarters in New York on June 23.
According to multiple re- ports, Brady is prepared to fight any suspension in federal court.
Charlie Sifford may cur- rently be resting in peace, but the golf pioneer’s son and for- mer daughter-in-law were ap- parently active in giving him anything but that financially while he lived.
The Associated Press reports that Craig and Sandra Sif- ford were indicted Tuesday (July 28) for stealing money from Charlie Sifford over a four-year period. The couple were charged in Cuyahoga County, Ohio Common Pleas Court with crimes that in- cluded theft, money laundering and unauthorized use of prop- erty. In addition to those charges, Sandra Sifford was charged with receiving stolen property.
The state attorney general and county prosecutor’s offices noted that that Craig and Sandra Sifford began steal- ing money from Craig’s fa- mous father in 2010. The money they took was spent on travel, dining, clothes, jewelry and landscaping.
Charlie Sifford is noted for being the first black golfer to earn full-time playing privi- leges on the PGA Tour in 1961. Despite helping to eliminate the PGA Tour’s Caucasian only rule, the AP mentioned that Sifford still experienced dis- crimination from tournament organizers in the South after earning his tour card.

nority golfers, including Tiger Woods, who called Sifford his grandfather. Woods gave credit where it was due, saying, that were it not for Sifford and other pioneers he might not have played the game.
Sifford’s golfing accom- plishments included winning two PGA Tour events and the 1975 PGA Seniors Champi- onship as well as an induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2004 and an honorary doctorate degree from the Uni- versity of St. Andrews in Scot- land in 2006.

honored the golfing legend last November with the Presiden- tial Medal of Freedom during a ceremony at the White House. While he has numerous honors under his belt, Sifford consid- ered his most significant vi- cories to be the six National Negro Open titles he won. Sif- ford died in February at the age of 92, not long after suffer- ing a stroke.
