Michael Jordan Loses China Trademark Suit: Report
A Beijing court has dismissed a trademark case brought by U.S. basketball superstar Michael Jordan against a company using a similar name and logo to his Nike-produced brand, a report said.
The former Chicago Bull is arguably the most popular in- ternational basketball star in China and is known in the country as "Qiaodan", a Chi- nese version of his name.
He asked Chinese authorities in 2012 to revoke the trade- mark of Qiaodan Sports Co, ac- cusing the sportswear firm of misleading consumers about its ties to the six-time NBA champion.
As well as the name, Qiao- dan's products carry a silhou- ette of a leaping basketball player resembling the "Jump- man" logo used by US sporting goods giant Nike to promote its Air Jordan brand.

Authorities refused Jor- dan's request, and a lower court in Beijing did the same. He appealed to the Beijing Higher People's Court, which has ruled against him, the Chi- nese news portal Sohu re- ported.

KOBE BRYANT
With an infusion of mostly young talent like No. 2 overall pick D'Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson and the ad- dition of Lou Williams, the Lakers used their summer league pairings to start experi- menting with their lineup. And that might mean a change for Kobe Bryant.
Coach Byron Scott told NBA.com it's possible Bryant could spend time at power for- ward.
"If we don't get another guard, then Kobe's in that mix," Scott said of a potential switch. "I'm kind of going through those scenarios. But not necessarily as far as who's starting and who doesn't. ... I think [Bryant] will play more 3 than 2. If we can get him at the elbows and at the mid-post, the more effective he'll be.
Russell and Clarkson played long stretches together in Las Vegas, and Russell felt encouraged about sharing a backcourt with Clarkson.
