AIKENS
MS. ALICE MAE BROWN
A Homegoing Celebration for Ms. Alice Mae Brown, of Tampa FL, who passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, will be held on Saturday, August 13th at 2 p. m., at the Springhill M. B. Church, 8119 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Tampa, FL, 33619, Pastor Eugene Gar- nett, officiating. The interment will follow at Rest Haven Memo- rial Park Cemetery.
Ms. Brown was born Decem- ber 10, 1935, in Greenwood, Mississippi, to Johnny and Annie Harbrooks. She accepted the Lord at an early age. She was a long-time, faithful member of Mount Olive M. B. Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. C. P. Epps. She later united with Springhill M. B. Church, under the leadership of Rev. Eugene Garnett. Alice retired from the custodial department at the Uni- versity of South Florida after 30 years of service.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Johnny and Annie Harbrook; brothers, John Wesley Jones, Johnny Har- brook, Jr., Melvin Harbrook, and Herman Harbrook; sisters, Coreaner (Corrine) Brown, Mardessie Ross, Ethel Aldridge, Elizabeth Johnson, and Emma Dixon Byars.
She leaves fond memories with: her daughter, Fred Deane (Fredie) Brown; grandchildren, Robert D. and Aaron C. Brown; great-grandchildren, Aariontae, Tiara, Mar’Shanna, Erin, Mar- lon, Robert Isaiah, Sierra Tate, Camari D., and Jahque’ Wilcox Brown; great-great-grandchil- dren, Jakobi
Desroches and Ja’Rhailynn Butler; nieces, April Harbrook, Corrine Jackson (Mississippi), Mary A. Watson, Dorothy Stew- art (Tennessee), Lorraine A. Smith (T. C.) (Tennessee); nephews, Levi Dixon (Terri), Herman Harbrook “Teddy Bear” (Mississippi), Gary Ross (Mississippi), James Dixon (Alice) (Missouri); and a host of other relatives and friends, in- cluding Mary Priester, Edgar and Barbara Jones, Eloise Jones, Ella Rose Chapman, Christine Johnson, and a very good neighbor, Toni Taylor.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Fri- day, August 12th, 2022, from 4-8 p. m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service. We are following CDC guidelines.

MR. GARMON BELL, JR.
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Garmon Bell, Jr., of El Sobrante, CA, who passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, will be held on Saturday, August 13th, 1:00 p.m., at Aikens Fu- neral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Michael Neely, officiating. The interment will follow in Bush- nell National Cemetery on Mon- day, August 15th, 10:30 a.m.
Mr. Garmon Bell was born June 7, 1950 in Reynolds, Geor- gia to parents, Garmon (Joe) and Mildred Bell. He was the second of five children. After graduating from Middleton High School, Garmon enlisted in the Army, giving him the oppor- tunity to travel to many exciting places around the world. He ob- tained the rank of E7 before leaving active duty, continuing his service in the Army Reserve.
After the military in 1977, he met his beautiful and dedicated wife, Cynethia “Cindy.” They re- mained married until God called him home. He loved traveling, going to the park, DJing, and spending time with his wife and family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Garmon, Sr. and Mildred Bell; brothers, Hinton and KC Bell; nephews, Albert Wilder, Jr., James Anthony Wilder, and Lorenzo Floyd; un- cles, Clifford McClendon, and Jim, Hosley, and Bob Shorter; aunts, Hattie Lee Shorter (Hosley) and Ozzie Lee McClen- don.
He leaves precious memo- ries with: wife, Cynethia Bell; sisters, Willie Mae Wilder, and Lillie Stegall (John); nieces, Mary Ann Wilder, Barbara Baity, Francina McAfee (Ceaph), Sonia Bullard, Fauna Rencher, Shonquisha Engram (Eddie), Khadijah Ranger, Chardonnae K. MS. MELVINA FAISON
A Homegoing Memorial for Ms. Melvina Faison, of Tampa, FL, who passed away on August 4, 2022, will be held on Sunday, August 14th, 4 p.m., at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Mar- tin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., with a local pastor officiating.
Melvina, affectionately nick- named, “Taz”, was born on March 10, 1969, in Hackensack, New Jersey, to Melvin and Geneva Faison. Some of her fa- vorite activities included bowl- ing, shooting pool, fishing, traveling, adventuring, and try- ing new things. Throughout her life she was an advocate of and worked for both civil and union rights.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Melvin and Geneva Faison; and daughter, Cheri S. Ghant; and sisters, Linda Far- rarh and Lola Monroe.
She leaves precious memories with: children, Warren and La- toya Ghant; grandchildren, Malachi Collins, Elijah Ghant, and Nevaeh Ghant; brother, Bucky Taylor; sister, Bonnie Taylor; nephews, Syheem Far- rarh, Evan Taylor, and Jason Taylor; nieces, Naimah Bogert, Kimetra Martin, and Syara Brown; great-aunt, Hattie Wil- son; and a host of other loving relatives.

A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Beverly Ann Merritt, who passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, will be held on Saturday, August 13th, 2 p.m., at St. John Cathedral, 3401 E. 25th Avenue, Tampa, FL 33605, with Pastor Patricia Whaley, officiat- ing. The interment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery.
Beverly “Hollywood” Mer- ritt was born on September 18, 1961, in Tampa, FL. Her favorite activity included shopping, ex- ercising, spending time with her family and friends, and making her home beautiful in any way she could.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jerome W. Merritt; parents, Edward Strother, Sr., and Ernestine Allen Upshaw; sister, Ernestine L. Arnold.

HARMON
MR. WALTER EDWARD SMITH, JR.
Mr. Walter Edward Smith, Jr., (June Bug) of Tampa, FL, was called home Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, FL. He was 72.
A Memorial Service will be held at Harmon Funeral Home, 5002 North 40th Street, Tampa, Florida 33610, on Sat- urday, August 13, 2022, at 1 p.m. and burial with military honors on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Florida Na- tional Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
Born April 3, 1950 in Plant City, Florida, he served in the U. S. Army and was an athletic and hardworking man, always will- ing to help. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Idele Cooper-Smith and Walter Smith, Sr., eldest brother, Willie Cooper, Sr.; nephew, Jamar Hammond; niece, Sebrena Hammond- James, and granddaughter, Honesty Barlow.
He leaves behind: 3 children; a son, Walter Barber, and 2 daughters, Christina Barber and Adella Barber; sister, Eloise Hammond-Wallace and brothers, Ronald Smith and Terry Smith; 3 nephews, Dar- ryle Young, Eric Young, and Willie Cooper, Jr. (Demetrial); sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Young; 2 granddaughters, E’Mani Lugo and Kiera Nunez- Barber; 5 grandsons, Dae’Saun Barber, Jacob and Julius Nunez-Barber, Fredrick and Truth Barlow; 10 great nephews; 7 great nieces; a host of cousins and friends; special friends, Mary Coleman, Whit- ney Sams, Vivian Hartley and Carl.
