Missing Young Man Found
The Tampa Police Department reported that 19-year-old Cordell Lloyd Francis has been located after he was reported missing Wednesday morning.
Detectives said in the past when Francis left home, he has been located within hours. This time, detectives were concerned due to the length of time he has been missing.
Francis is known to hide, specifically under cars. His family moved to Tampa a week ago, and detectives believed he did not have the ability to find his way back home.
Francis has diminished mental capacity and left his home in the 700 block of Flori- braska Avenue.
Francis was returned to his family safely, thanks to someone recognizing him and call- ing police.

Well-Known Tampan Records ‘Awareness Music’

BY LEON B. CREWS Sentinel Staff Writer
Georgia Sentinel publisher and Tampa native, Andre White, said a while back he was watching television, and saw the reports about Isis and people being decapitated.
“I immediately recalled the conscious music of the 1960s and 1970s, and I couldn’t en- courage some artists to do any- thing about this issue. That bothered me.”
White said he went into his office, thought about it for a while, then started writing.
“The words just started coming out. When I finished, I sang it myself, because I could- n’t get an artist to do it.
“My close friends James Brown and Marvin Gaye al- ways made conscious music and kept everyone up on cur- rent events and how those
events were impacting people.” White said when he went to the studio to record his com- position, he found out he could
actually sing.
The songs, “We Americans
by Moses White,” “My Man,” and “Get Your Mind Out Of The Gutter Or You’re Going To Hell” were produced by White’s son, Andre “Lucky” White. And his daughter sang background.
“I had a great time record- ing the song and I want every- one to know I’m not doing another one.
“I was pleased that the mil- itary community liked the songs. I just wish today’s music was more socially conscious and reflected what was going on outside the “hood,” not just within that small community.”

Supreme Court Validates Rights Of Same Sex Couples To Marry
On June 25th, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that subsidies for Obamacare were legal. The IRS will be able to issue subsidies on be- half of those who bought a plan through HealthCare.gov after the plaintiffs in King V. Burwell lost their challenge.
Before the decision was made by the Supreme Court, the Affordable Care Act had seen over 50 repeal attempts by the House and Senate.
On Friday, June 30th in a long sought victory for the gay rights movement, the Supreme Court voted 5-4 that the Constitution guarantees a right to same sex marriage.
The decision, which was the culmination of decades of litigation and activism, set- off celebrations across the country.
Nadine Smith, CEO of Equality Florida, said they are all overjoyed at the deci- sion of the Supreme Court.
“Discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity remains a barrier to health insurance coverage, but the Affordable Care Act has helped to ad- dress that.
“Same Sex couples are treated equally for financial

assistance regardless of the state they live in, and that is a great triumph.
“The court’s decision means not only that Oba- macare will survive, but also that millions of people, espe- cially Floridians will be able to keep their health care sub- sidies, which is what makes their insurance truly afford- able.”
On the decision by the Supreme Court on same sex marriages, State Senate Dem- ocratic Leader Arthenia Joyner, applauded the deci- sion by the Justices.
“I applaud the nation’s highest court for recognizing what we, as Democrats, have long struggled for: equality for members of the gay and

lesbian communities. “The decision
finally strikes down the narrow- minded bias some states have held against same sex couples to love whom they choose and celebrate that love through marriage. From coast-to-coast, it means chil- dren of these couples will have the protections afforded heterosexual couples. It means spouses will no longer be shunned from the legal rights of heterosexual unions. It means these couples are entitled to the same dignity as heterosexual ones. And it means the Court has finally affirmed that gays and les- bians are guaranteed the same constitutional protec-
tions as everyone else.”
