Catanzaro's 59-Yard FG In OT Lifts Bucs Over Browns 26-23
Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Chandler Catanzaro kicks the game-winning 59-yard field goal.
Kwon Alexander Feared To Have Torn ACL; May Be Out For Season
KWON ALEXANDER
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pro Bowl linebacker Kwon Alexander, who left Sun- day's overtime victory over the Cleveland Browns just be- fore halftime with a right knee injury, is believed to have torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.
He'll undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the diag- nosis, but the team fears that he is out for the season.
Alexander suffered the injury with 18 second left in the first half. He was blitzing quarterback Baker May- field and planted his foot, going down without contact. Players on both teams imme- diately knelt down. Alexan- der was able to leave the field under his own power.
The timing couldn't be worse for Alexander, who is set to become a free agent next season, and has been try- ing to negotiate a new con- tract.
DeAndre Hopkins Shades Jalen Ramsey After Win
DEANDRE HOPKINS
DeAndre Hopkins got the last word in whatever ri- valry he has with Jalen Ram- sey.
Hopkins’ Houston Texans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-7 on Sunday. Hopkins was asked about his rivalry with the Jags cornerback after the game, and he had a strong re- sponse. He jabbed Ramsey over their recent head-to-head record.
The Texans are only 3-2 against the Jags since Ramsey joined the team, though Bill O’Brien is 7-2 against Jack- sonville.
Hopkins had 3 catches for 50 yards and a touchdown in the game.
Cam Newton, Panthers
Chandler Catanzaro was confident he would re- deem himself. His job was on the line.
Catanzaro missed an extra point in the first half, as well as a 40-yard field goal on the final play of regula- tion. Concerned the Bucs (3- 3) might not get the ball back if they punted, coach Dirk Koetter didn't hesitate to give his kicker a chance to end it with 1:50 remaining in the extra period.
Tampa Bay, which recov- ered Jabrill Peppers' fum- ble near midfield on a punt return to give itself a chance, ended a three-game skid and handed the Browns (2-4-1) their 24th consecutive road loss — two shy of tying the NFL record.
Cleveland, which has played four overtime games this season — most for a
team since Arizona won all four it played in 2011, and tied for second most in NFL history — hasn't won on the road since winning in over- time at Baltimore on Oct. 11, 2015.
The Detroit Lions set the road futility mark with 26 straight losses from 2007-10.
Jameis Winston and DeSean Jackson scored on 14-yard runs for Tampa Bay (3-3). Rookie Ronald Jones II added his first pro TD on a 2-yard run that put Tampa Bay up 23-9 heading into the fourth quarter.
Winston completed 32 of 52 passes for 365 yards and no touchdowns. He was sacked four times, threw two interceptions and lost a fum- ble. The 2013 Heisman Tro- phy winner also led the Bucs in rushing with 55 yards on 10 attempts.
Never count out Cam Newton.
The Carolina Panthers star quarterback led his team to a remarkable 21-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, overcoming a 17-0 fourth- quarter deficit to break the hearts of the defending cham- pions.
Newton threw for 269 yards and two fourth-quarter scores, while Christian Mc- Caffrey tallied 80 yards from scrimmage and veteran tight end Greg Olsen caught the game-winning score with just 1:26 on the clock.
That spoiled an excellent performance from Carson Wentz, who finished 30-of- 37 for 310 yards and two

touchdowns in the loss. De- spite controlling time of pos- session (35:17) and dominating the first three quarters, the Eagles blew an- other fourth-quarter lead and dropped to 3-4 on the season.
The Panthers moved to 4- 2, meanwhile.

 Saints QB Drew
Brees Throws 500th
Career TD Pass
Chalk up another mile- stone for Drew Brees.
The Saints quarterback joined the exclusive 500 club for career touchdown passes – joining Peyton Manning, Brett Favre and Tom Brady – in sneaky fashion with a 1-yard pass off a play- action fake.
Ben Watson goes in the books as the recipient of the history, joining the likes of Marques Colston, Reggie Bush, Devery Henderson, Darren Sproles, C. J. Spiller and Freddie Jones in hauling in a milestone Brees TD pass.
Jones was the Chargers tight end who snagged Brees’ first career scoring toss way back in 2001.
The scoring strike on Sun- day, coming on a first-and- goal to cap a 75-yard drive with just under two minutes before halftime, was just one of the markers that the 39- year-old Brees achieved at M&T Bank Stadium while in the midst of arguably his best

season yet.
The Ravens had been the
only team that Brees had never beaten during his 18- year NFL career, but that changed Sunday thanks to a Brees-led comeback and Justin Tucker's missed extra point in the final minute, which preserved a 24-23 victory.
With No. 500, Brees (who later added No. 501) joins Brady – who increased his tally to 504 with three TDs at Chicago – in a race to break Manning’s record of 539 TD passes. But first, they are po- sitioned to surpass Favre’s 508 marker.
