Deputies Investigate Overnight Shooting
Suspect Arrested In Motel Shooting
On August 27th at 11:14 p.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office re- ceived a call reporting a home invasion robbery at 16310 Dew Drop Lane.
The preliminary investi- gation has revealed that Leanys Rodriguez- Charon, 27, and Carlos Anthony Rodriguez, 28, had driven from Miami to Tampa in a rental vehicle. Both men, armed with tasers, parked across the street from the Dew Drop Lane address and reportedly kicked in the back door and were con- fronted by a Hispanic male inside.

ported to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Both shooting victims were not cooperating with the in- vestigation.
Serial Burglar Arrested

On August 23rd, St. Peters- burg Police officers arrested a man that had been commit- ting numerous burglaries throughout Pinellas County.
St. Petersburg Police Bur- glary Unit detectives were in- vestigating a series of commercial burglaries that began in late July and contin- ued into August.
Carlos Ramirez, 26, was charged with three commer- cial burglaries in St. Peters- burg, and a pair that occurred in the jurisdiction of the Pinel- las Park Police Department.
The Pinellas County Sher- iff’s Office also charged Ramirez with a burglary committed in their jurisdic- tion.

Tarpon Springs Police de- tectives are investigating a murder that occurred Satur- day morning at the Sunbay Motel, 57 West Tarpon Av- enue.
The investigation has es- tablished probable cause for the arrest of Fredrick Alvin Bentley on a charge of mur- der.
Officers responded to the motel at 4:34 a.m., in refer- ence to someone being shot at the motel. When they arrived, officers found the victim, Tarenzo Ladarius Smith, in the parking lot. He was pro- nounced dead at the scene. Smith had been a resident at the motel.
Police said Bentley left the scene on foot before offi- cers arrived. A search of the area with K-9 proved unsuc- cessful.

Through the subsequent investigation detectives were able to identify the shooter as Bentley. The investigation also revealed that Bentley had been staying at the motel in another room and was an acquaintance of Smith.
Detectives said Smith and Bentley were engaged in a conversation during the early morning hours that led to a verbal argument. During the argument, Bentley allegedly retrieved a handgun and re- turned to confront Smith. Bentley allegedly shot Smith at close range before fleeing on foot, police said.
Authorities reported that Bentley was found later in the 1,000 block of Magnolia Drive in Clearwater. He had been seen walking in the roadway when he was ar- rested.
Deputies Fired At During Execution Of Search Warrant

On Friday, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with other law enforce- ment officials, executed a search warrant at 8020 Con- gress Street in New Port Richey.
The investigation resulted in the arrests of Kalamo Kamu, Jr., 34, and his fa- ther, Kalamo Kamu, Sr., 61.
Deputies said Kamu, Sr., fired at least one shot at them as they were coming through the door to serve the warrant. No one was injured and Kamu, Sr., was ar- rested for attempted murder

of a law enforcement officer. Both father and son were arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, pos- session of cocaine and pos- session of a controlled
substance.
Kamu, Jr., was also
charged with three counts of sale and possession of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of a child care facility, six counts of unlawful use of a two-way communication device, and three counts of trafficking in crack cocaine.
Seized at the home were three shotguns, a Sig Sauer .380, and $6,000 in cash.
Infant Injured In Drive-By Shooting
A 1-year-old New Port Richey girl was hit by gunfire in a drive-by shooting late Sunday night in New Port Richey.
According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, the infant was hit in the wrist and the injury is not life threaten- ing.
Deputies were called at
11:26 p.m. about the shooting that occurred at a home in the 7300 block of Westcott Drive.
Deputies said several shots were fired at the home. No other injuries were re- ported.
Deputies said the shooting was not random and the in- fant’s mother is a docu- mented gang member.
