Career And College Fair Planned For Saturday

This week’s Spotlight feature is the lovely Jessica, and as you can see, it doesn’t get any better. This young lady aspires to be the face of success today and in the future, and is not shy when it comes to posing for the camera. Jessica is capable of accomplish- ing anything she wants, and is never short of confidence. Con- gratulations to Jessica as this week’s Spotlight feature.
The Tampa Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in col- laboration with Middleton High School, the Hillsbor- ough County Supervisor of Elections and the Tampa Family Health Center will hold a Career and College Fair aimed at preparing middle and high school aged students to pursue their passion.
The expo will be held on September 22, 2018, at Middleton High School, 4801 N. 22nd Street, Tampa, Fl 33610, between 9 amand1pm.Thisisthe chapter’s 15th year of host- ing this event for the com- munity.
The event is free and open to the public. Registra- tion will take place from 8 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. Free lunch will be provided for those who pre-register at www.dstta.com.
The career and college expo is a collaboration of more local business and col- lege representatives from
local, state, regional and na- tional institutions of higher learning. It was developed as a way to help students understand the available options as they transition into the next chapter of their lives.
The event will host a va- riety of colleges and profes- sional disciplines, is geared toward 7th grade students through high school and their parents. There are more than 32 colleges slated to attend the event, Level one screenings will also be provided.
There will be nine inter- active career sessions for Youth & Adults and career presentations:

Engineering (an Engi- neer from NASA), Public Safety (Tampa Police De- partment, Tampa Fire De- partment);

Hillsborough County Youth Hoops League Skills Assessment, Season Set
Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation’s youth basketball league begins Sept. 29, with the first skills assessment set for this week- end.
Three Hillsborough County recreation centers each will offer individual leagues:
Westchase Recreation Center, 9791 Westchase Drive in Tampa
Gardenville Recreation Center, 6219 Symmes Road in Gibston
Emanuel P Johnson Recreation Center, 5855 S. 78th St. in Tampa
The league is for kids ages 9-15, with divided age groups. The skills assess- ments are Saturday, Sept. 22 at each of the recreation cen- ters. For those who can’t
make Sept. 22, assessments will also be held on the same schedule on Sept. 29.
The season runs from Sept. 29-Nov. 17. Cost is $50 per child and includes a re- versible jersey and end-of- season reward.
The schedule for the skills assessment is as follows:
Westchase and Gardenville:
9-10 years old: 8-9 a. m. 10-12 years old: 9-10 a. m. 13-15 years old: 10-11 a. m.
Emanuel P. Johnson:
9-10 years old: 9-10 a. m. 10-12 years old: 10-11 a. m. 13-15 years old:
11 a. m.-noon
