Jay-Z, Diddy, Nas, And Kendrick Lamar Are Hip-Hop’s Biggest Earners According To ‘Forbes’

Forbes has released its annual list of hip-hop’s biggest earners and we were surprised by a few of the rap- pers on the list. As expected, Jay-Z topped the list by rak- ing in a whopping $76.5 mil- lion thanks to the success of 4:44 as well as the Every- thing Is Love album he dropped with his wifey, Bey- once. The couple’s On The Run 2 tour helped give him the boost he needed to nab the top spot. The couple will take home about $150 mil- lion for the tour.
Following close behind Hov is Diddy, who earned a cool $64 million with the help of his lucrative beverage deals with Ciroc vodka, DeLeón tequila and Aquahy- drate alkaline water.
Kendrick Lamar came in at No. 3, securing $58 mil- lion from deals with Nike and American Express as well as his super successful solo tour and headlining the TDE: The Championship Tour.
Drake came in at No.4 with $47 million and J. Cole rounds out the Top 5 with
$35.5 million.
Nas made the list for the
first time in his career, com- ing in at No. 6 with $35 mil- lion earned this year. Although he has released new music, most of the coins are coming from big moves he made in Silicon Valley, giving him stakes in compa- nies like Lyft, Coinbase, and Mass Appeal.
We already knew these four were paid, but a few oth- ersonthelistcameasabitof a surprise. Who knew Em- inem was collecting coins to the tune of $23 million this year? And Lil Uzi Vert is doing his thing, quietly amassing $19.5 million in 2018.
For all his foolery, Kanye West only brought in $27.5 million which seems like quite a low-ball amount for the cost of his soul. DJ Khaled came in right be- hind him with $27 million and for some reason, we thought the man who seems to be on every track we hear would have brought in more bucks.
WALE
The friendly skies weren’t so kind to Wale, according to the tweets he sent out on Sun- day (September 16).
While traveling from New York City to Los Angeles, Wale claimed two American Airlines employees informed him he wasn’t supposed to be in the first class section of the plane and threatened to call police.
“How about ur employees Megumi and Don told me ‘ur not supposed to be in first class I’m calling the police,'” Wale tweeted to American Airlines.
Wale accused the two em- ployees of being “racist” in a tweet directed at the airline.
The Weeknd & Daft Punk Sued $5 Million Over "Starboy" Sample
THE WEEKND
The Weeknd and Daft Punk have found themselves with a fresh lawsuit on their hands thanks to a Somali-American musician.
Singer/songwriter Yasmi- nah is suing both parties over The Weeknd’s 2016 single, “Starboy.” According to Yas- minah, “Starboy” borrows numerous elements from her 2009 song “Hooyo,” which she co-wrote.
Yasminah’s lawsuit claims that the two songs boast the same hook, same key, sim- ilar tempo, and other similari-
tiesY. asminah says two of the producers of “Hooyo” previ- ously threatened to sue over the song and opted to settle outside of court. She did not receive any money from the producers’ settlement.
Yasminah is suing The Weeknd and Daft Punk for at least $5 million.
24 hours after the viral roasting of radio host Wanda Smith courtesy of Emmy Award-winning fun- nyman Katt Williams dur- ing Friday’s Frank & Wanda Morning Show on Atlanta’s V103, the comedian was con- fronted by Smith’s (strapped) husband following a comedy show.
Evidently not amused by the footage, which quickly smashed well over a million views, LaMorris Sellers — with his son and wife in tow — engaged in a verbal con- frontation with the 47-year- old comedian at Atlanta Comedy Theater in Norcross, Georgia. According to a re- port Williams gave to po- lice, Sellers pulled a gun on him and pointed it in his face.
When Gwinnett County Police caught up with Sell- ers, he admitted that he did

have a gun — and that it did fall from his waistband while he was chasing Williams to a nearby Food Depot. How- ever, he denied pointing it at Williams during the alter- cation.
Security footage from At- lanta Comedy Theater re- portedly shows an altercation, but not a gun. Police are still asking for any witnesses to come forward. Williams has said he does- n’t plan on pressing charges.

Judge Denies Cosby
Request To Step Down;
Sentencing Is Monday
Days before sentencing, Bill Cosby’s trial judge de- nied a defense motion to step down from the sex assault case because of what Cosby’s team called a long- ago grudge with a pretrial witness.
Montgomery County Judge Steven O’Neill has seen the case through two tri- als, hard-fought pretrial hearings and 15 defense lawyers since Cosby’s arrest on Dec. 30, 2015.
Cosby’s two-day sen- tencing hearing is set to start Monday. A jury this spring convicted him of drugging and molesting a woman friend at his home in 2004. The actor, now 81 and legally blind, faces a guideline sen- tence of about one to four years, but O’Neill can choose anything from proba- tion to a 30-year prison term.
Camille Cosby filed a state ethics complaint this week accusing O’Neill of bias against her husband be- cause of what she called his feud with a former prosecu- tor who testified in an early 2016 pretrial hearing. O’Neill had competed against the witness, Bruce

Castor, for a political post years ago.
“The fact that this court sought a party nomination for the office of District At- torney nearly 20 years ago is a fact of public record that could easily be uncovered in the exercise of due diligence by no less than 15 attorneys (and their private investiga- tors),” O’Neill wrote in an opinion issued Wednesday, noting that Castor has liti- gated cases in his court for years.
“No ‘grudge,’ animus, bias or prejudice can be claimed because it simply does not exist,” the judge wrote.
Montgomery County Dis- trict Attorney Kevin Steele opposed the defense motion.
