Bucs GM On McCoy: 'Gerald's On Our
Blue Jackets Trolled Lightning Hard In Tweet After Sweep
The Columbus Blue Jackets pulled off the unthinkable, sweeping the 62-win Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and then they gloated about it.
After taking a 3-0 lead in the series, Columbus came out looking to end things on Tues- day night. They got out to an early 2-0 lead and ended up winning 7-3 to break out the brooms. The team’s Twitter ac- count were sure to let everyone know it too by sending a tweet with the above photo along with the following caption: ‘just a little spring cleaning.’
Tampa Bay going down proves the curse of a record regular season is real.
Seahawks Make Wilson Top-Paid In NFL
Football Team'
The Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson have reached agreement on a four- year, $140 million extension that includes a $65 million signing bonus and makes the quarterback the highest-paid player in the NFL, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday morn- ing.
The four-year extension, which was signed and an- nounced on Tuesday, keeps the 30-year-old Wilson with the Seahawks through the 2023 season.
"Russ has been a huge factor in everything that has happened, and this allows us to stay on track with continu- ing to push to find that con- sistency," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. "Russell is a unique player, a unique competitor. It's rare the way he's just so consistently con- nected to competing and bat- tling. To keep that factor as part of the program is just a
Tampa Bay Buccaneers de- fensive tackle Gerald McCoy's absence during the team's voluntary portion of the offseason workout pro- gram continues.
McCoy's nonattendance comes in the wake of new head coach Bruce Arians' noncommittal comments on the six-time Pro Bowler at the League Annual Meeting in late March.
"I talked about Gerald at the combine, answered some questions at the owners' meet- ings," Licht told reporters Tuesday. "There really hasn't been any developments. Ger- ald's on our football team." Still, general manager Jason Licht didn't seem overly con- cerned on McCoy electing to stay away from team facilities as the Buccaneers transition to a new coaching staff.
While it would be good for
GERALD MCCOY McCoy to be around team-
mates and learn a new defen- sive scheme, the Buccaneers can't fine him for skipping the strength and conditioning portion or even the 10 days of upcoming organized team ac- tivities.
McCoy has three years re- maining on his contract, which pays a base salary of $13 million in 2019. And as Licht mentioned, McCoy is a Buccaneer.

real positive for our fans and for everyone."
In addition to topping Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers' contract as the richest ever with a new- money annual average of $35 million per season, Wil- son's signing bonus also sets a record. Rodgers was first in both categories at $33.5 million and $57.5 million, re- spectively, on the extension he signed last summer.
The deal includes a no- trade clause, a source said.
