Democratic Candidates Are Releasing Tax Returns, Answering Big Questions For All The Voters
Trump Tweets He Will Award Tiger Woods Presidential Medal of Freedom
Just one day after winning his fifth Masters Tournament championship in one of the greatest comebacks in golf history, Tiger Woods is set to receive another rare honor: the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
And unlike other pro ath- letes who’ve turned down the, er, opportunity to be feted by the current occupant of the Oval Office after major sports achievements, Woods is likely to show up for the honor as he and Don- ald Trump have been bud- dies for years. As Woods told reporters after a golf game in August, per Agence France-Presse via Yahoo! Sport:
“Well, I’ve known Donald for a number of years,” Woods said. “We’ve played golf together. We’ve had din- ner together. I’ve known him pre-presidency and obviously during his presidency.
“He’s the president of the United States. You have to re- spect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may

like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must re- spect the office.”
OK. So, on Monday, Woods’ buddy tweeted his congratulations for the Mas- ters Tournament victory and announced that he would “be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!”
So joyous.
While it’s a rare honor to
be awarded with the nation’s highest civilian honor (only a dozen or less are awarded each year, according to the New York Times), it is rare that an athlete that is being honored receives one while still being active in his or her sport.
But, in any case, if Presi- dent Trump’s tweet rings true, congrats are in order again for Tiger Woods.
Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont says he is set to release his tax returns Monday. For the first time in his career, it's been revealed that Sanders is now, in fact, a millionaire.
Congressional Democrats are embroiled in the fight to try to compel the release of President Trump's tax re- turns, which he continues to decline to do. But with the deadline to file taxes coming Monday, it's Democratic can- didates who are in the spot- light.
As Democrats try to grab the higher ground on trans- parency with regard to their personal finances, so far only three of the almost 20 Dem- ocratic candidates have re- leased their 2018 returns as of Thursday night.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren
of Massachusetts, Washing- ton Gov. Jay Inslee and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of
New York have released them. Gillibrand was the first to do so. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota has also released 12 years of taxes through 2017 so far. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont is pledging to re- lease his by Monday. Ka- mala Harris, Beto O'Rourke, Pete Buttigieg, Cory Booker and others have indicated they will re- lease them but haven't been specific about when.
"I've put out 11 years of my tax returns, because no one should ever have to guess who their elected officials are working for," Warren said Wednesday. "Doing this should be law.”
