104 Seniors Graduate From Charter Schools
Surprise Birthday Party
Betty King had no idea that a group of her friends and family members had gotten together and planned a surprise birthday party for her. (PHOTOS BY JULIA JACKSON)
On July 25th, three Hills- borough County charter schools held a joint com- mencement ceremony. During the ceremony, 104 diplomas were bestowed upon high school seniors.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Tampa Con- vention Center.
The Three charter schools participating in the graduation ceremony were; Seminole Heights, Town & Country, and
West University Charter High Schools.
The schools offer a non-tra- ditional academic program with an opportunity to earn a high school diploma and be- come better prepared for post- secondary success.
Open enrollment is ongoing at each school for students ages 16-21 who wish to earn an accredited high school diploma.

National Guard Specialist Completes Infantry Taining

Joshua Bigler and Jakeem Boyd were among 104 seniors who grad- uated on July 25th at the Tampa Convention Center.
Reserve Airman Completes Basic Training
Recently, U. S. Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Alberty Alberte Cruz completed all requirements and graduated from basic mil- itary training. His graduation ceremony was held at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
Airman Cruz completed an intensive, eight-week pro- gram that included training in military discipline and stud- ies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
He also earned four credits toward an associate in applied
science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Airman Cruz is the cousin of Roxanne Perez, of Tampa. He graduated from Julio A. Mella High School, in New York, NY, in 2011.
United States Army Na- tional Guard Specialist Mon- ica V. Ullysse has completed all graduation requirements for basic infantry training. She graduated with her class at Fort Jackson, in South Car- olina.
During the nine weeks of training, Specialist Ullysse studied the Army mission, his- tory, tradition and core values, as well as military courtesy,
drill and ceremony and the military justice system.
She also completed rigor- ous physical-fitness training and foot marches and under- went instruction and practice in rifle marksmanship, bayo- net use, unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, basic first aid and chemical warfare.
Specialist Ullysse is the daughter of Marie Ullysse,
of Pompano Beach, and Carlo Ullysse, of Fort Myers. She is the sister of Carlo Ullysse, Jr., also of Pampano Beach.
Specialist Ullysse gradu- ated from Cypress Bay High School, in Weston, Florida in 2011. She continued her edu- cation at the University of South Florida, where she earned a bachelor's degree in 2015.

A total of 104 students composed the 2016 graduating class repre- senting Seminole Heights Charter High School, Town & Country Charter High School, and West University Charter High School par- ticipated in their combined graduation ceremony at the Tampa Con- vention Center on July 25, 2016.
