Quin Twins Headed To FAMU
Most parents are proudly wrap- ping their brains around having one child graduate from High School, however, one is preparing to send both her children off to college. Her twins, Wayne Anthony, II and Brianna Allen Quin will be leaving soon to begin a new chapter of their lives.
Wayne Anthony is a graduate of Jesuit High School. He has been a member of the Greater Tampa Chap- ter (GTC) of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. for 15 years. He has been a very active participant during his entire time in GTC. As a leader, Wayne has served as the Teen Legislative Chair and twice as the Teen Chaplain. Wayne also participated in Speak Up Speak Out and one of his artwork pieces was recently featured at the 2021 Southeastern Region Teen Con- ference.
Attending Teen Conference, the 2022 Teen Lock In, the Teen Christ- mas Party, and the Mediterranean Cruise are among Wayne’s favorite memories in Jack and Jill.
At Jesuit, he was an honor stu- dent while being an officer in the Ital- ian Club, a member of the African American Club, Big Brothers, Psy- chology Club, and Peer Ministry. He
was also a member of The Men of To- morrow (MOT) of Gamma Zeta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
After years of hard work and dedication, Wayne earned his 2nd Degree Black Belt (2nd Dan Kukkiwon Certification) in Taekwondo from the World Taekwondo Headquarters.
Wayne played baseball for many years. He was a starting third baseman, shortstop, and outfielder on his Pony League, Little League, and High School teams.
During High School, Wayne earned a spot on the Jesuit varsity football team. This was the first time he ever played football and it was the beginning of his deep love for the sport.
As a starting outside linebacker for the #8 nationally ranked and 2021 Florida 6A State Champion Je- suit football team, Wayne ended the impressive 2021 season with 120 total tackles, (second highest on the team) which included 69 solo tackles, he led the team with 10 sacks and had 14 tackles for loss.
In addition to being highlighted in several newspaper articles, Wayne’s 2021 football accolades in- clude being named as a Florida 2021
Class 6A All-State 2nd Team Line- backer, Primetime Preps 2021 State Semifinals Football Player of the Week, being awarded Jesuit’s 2021 Most Valuable Linebacker, a Spirit of the Tiger Award finalist, and a 2021 Scholar Athlete by the National Foot- ball Foundation.
Wayne’s favorite pastimes in- clude listening to music and playing Madden with his friends.
Coupled with his desire to attend a Historically Black College and Uni- versity (HBCU), Wayne committed to play football at Florida A&M Uni- versity where he will major in Busi- ness Administration.
Brianna is a graduate of H.B. Plant High School.
She has been a member of the Greater Tampa Chapter (GTC) of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. for 15 years. She has been a very active par- ticipant during her entire time in GTC. As a leader, Brianna served as the Junior Teen Secretary and on the Regional Teen Advisory Board. Bri- anna also participated in Speak Up Speak Out twice and represented the chapter at the Super Cluster both times. One of Brianna’s alto saxo- phone solos was featured at the 2021 Southeastern Region Teen Confer- ence.
Attending the 2019, 2021, and 2022 Teen Lock Ins and 2019 Teen Conference are among Brianna’s favorite memories in Jack and Jill. Other memorable times in GTC in- clude Community Service at Miracles Outreach, the Teen Christmas Party, and the Regional and National trips. Both she and her twin brother were recently introduced to society at the GTC 2022 Cotillion.
At Plant, Brianna was also a member of National Honor Society, BETA Honor Society, and the TriM Music Honor Society. She was the saxophone section leader in HB Plant
Marching Band and was selected for the All-County Band four times, made it to State Solo and Ensemble, and was a member of the Wind En- semble and the Jazz Band.
Brianna served as the Historian for the Emerging Young Leaders of Gamma Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and is a current member of the Precious Pearls of Gamma Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Soror- ity, Inc.
As a middle schooler, Brianna was recognized by the School District of Hillsborough County as the recip- ient of the LEAD Award for a poem she wrote in memory of her beloved father, Dr. Anthony Quin.
Both Brianna and her brother are active members of Beulah Baptist Institutional Church. They both served in the Youth Ministry, Youth Choir, Drama Ministry, and Dance Ministry.
The Plant High School senior will attend Florida A&M University as a Presidential Scholar and major in So- ciology. She will also be a member of the Marching 100 at FAMU.
They are the son and daughter of Dianna Allen-Quin and the late Wayne Anthony Quin, Ph.D.
