Former Tampa Bank Executive Promoted To Head Wealth And Asset Management Division
BY KENYA WOODARD Sentinel Feature Writer
A new year means a new role for banking executive and Tallahassee native and former Tampa resident, Brian Lamb, but the mission re- mains the same.
Lamb, who serves as chair- man of the University of South Florida’s Board of Trustees, was named as Fifth Third Bank’s head of Wealth and Asset Management.
He’ll remain at the bank’s headquarters in Cincinnati, where he relocated last year to take on the job of Chief Cor- porate Responsibility and Reputation Officer. In that po- sition, Lamb oversaw Com- munity Commitment, a five-year $30 billion initiative focused on lending and in- vestment in local communi- ties.
Fifth Third invested $7.88 billion, or 26.3 percent, of the total lending and investment

“It was a fantastic opportu- nity for me,” Lamb said in a telephone interview. “It was a chance for me to get to know other parts of the organiza-
tion.”
While no longer managing
the initiative, Lamb said he’s still focused on working to up- lift communities through job creation, philanthropy, and business assistance.
“I will never lose sight of how important our commu- nity is to our bank,” Lamb said.
A graduate of USF, Lamb joined Fifth Third in 2006 as a Regional Chief Financial Of- ficer. He served as president of the bank’s North Florida re- gion – based in Tampa – be- fore moving to Ohio.
A highly-regarded leader in Tampa Bay civic and business circles, Lamb has remained tied to the area. Most visible is his position on the Board of Trustees, where he was vice chair before his election as chair in 2016. His term ex- pires in 2020.
As head of Wealth and Asset Management, Lamb will direct the bank’s services in wealth planning, invest- ment management, insur- ance, estate planning, and private banking.
The shift in responsibilities presents a chance to help indi- viduals, families, and institu- tions plan for the future and make sound financial deci- sions, he said.
“It gives me a chance to leverage what I’ve learned and gives me a chance to do some- thing I love to do, which is serve customers,” Lamb said.
