Sheehy is one of the
schools in the District that has received ‘D’ or ‘F’ grades over a period of time.
The staff wants to make sure this does not continue.
They have pulled together several partners to join this event on January 11th.
“Sometimes our parents are going through some tough times and that makes it difficult for the children to concentrate in class,” she explained. “At our school, we need tutors to come and read, help with math, moti- vate and just encourage our students by letting them know that they can be suc- cessful,” Ms. Williams said.
Some of the partners she has already secured to par- ticipate in E. S. P. N. are: SunTrust Operation Hope with Harold Gillispie; Author/Pastor Dr. Mark T. Jones, Sr., (Cen- ter For Manifestation); Wells Fargo Financial Advi- sor (Mr. Hibbler); Gary Adult Education (GED), Eckerd College, Hillsbor-
ough County Public Library, The Hive, Zumba instruc- tor, New Mt. Zion M. B. Church – Pastor Larry Roundtree, II; Abundant Life Enrichment Church – Pastor R. Randolph; Hillsborough County Health Dept., and Erwin Technical Center, among others.
Those who will assist with the event will share an abundance of information and resources with the par- ents in hopes of providing help in any areas where they need help.
“There will also be food, music and games for stu- dents and families,” Ms. Williams stated.
Ms. Patricia McCants
is Principal of Sheehy. For more information or to get involved, call the school (813) 233-3800 after Janu- ary 9th.
