Why I Named My Son, William Wallace Andrews, IV, After My Uncle
WILLIAM WALLACE, IV with great uncle, DR. WILLIAM WALLACE, III
BY CYRIL BLYTHE ANDREWS, III
The legacy of the Andrews family began with my great grand- father, William Wallace Andrews. He had two sons, Cyril Blythe and Dr. William Wallace, Jr.
My grandfather, Cyril Blythe Andrews had two sons, Cyril Blythe Andrews, Jr. and Dr. William Wallace Andrews, III.
My dad had 4 daughters and me who he named Cyril Blythe, III. My uncle had four daughters.
My first child was a son and I named him Cyril Blythe IV. My second son was named William Wallace, IV. My third son was named Adam. My mother’s maiden name.
This is where this story begins. No one ever asked or told me to name my second son William Wallace, IV. My Uncle never asked me why I named my son after him. It was a silent, spiritual connection that nothing had to be said about it. I knew deep in my Uncle’s mind and heart that the best gift his nephew could give him was to name his son after him. I didn’t think of it at the time like that, I just wanted his name to live on through my son.
So, as my Uncle goes on to be with the LORD and his Dad, Mother and Brother, his NAME WILL LIVE ON THROUGH MY SON, WILLIAM WALLACE IV.
With that thought in mind, that makes me happy.
God has a way of blessing you when you dedicate your life to serving His people.
My Uncle, Dr. William Wallace Andrews, III, did just that!
