ROMAN PROVEZANO
A 17-year-old Tampa teenager was arrested and charged with carjacking. He was arrested last week.
According to the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice, Javier Ginart was video chatting on his tablet outside McDonald’s, 502 Brandon Blvd., at approxi- mately 9:30 p.m., on Decem- ber 17th.
Ginart heard someone get into his vehicle and try to drive away. Police said Roman Provezano was at- tempting to take the 2009 Honda Accord, which had been left running. Ginart attempted to stop him.
Police said a struggle en- sued and Ginart was dragged by the vehicle for a short distance. He received minor injuries.
Two Florida Wildlife Conservation officers later observed the vehicle driving recklessly as it fled the scene and attempted a traffic stop. Provezano allegedly fled the scene and threw the tablet on the roadway.
The vehicle was later lo- cated near the Hard Rock Casino. Police identified Provezano as the suspect because the vehicle is equipped with an ignition in- terlock device that requires the driver to provide a breath sample in order to operate it.
Provezano provided the breath samples and was cap- tured by in the installed camera on the ignition inter- lock device several times.
In addition to carjacking, Provezano was also charged with 2 counts of vi- olation of probation, police said.
