MRS. ARTIE BERNICE (COLEMAN) BROWN
The city of Tampa has lost one of its longtime prominent residents. Mrs. Artie Bernice (Coleman) Brown passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at John Knox Village. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at First Baptist Church of West Tampa, 1302 N. Willow Ave, 33607, at 12 p. m. (noon).
Public viewing will be Fri- day,August26,from5–8p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, and from 10 a. m. 12-noon on Saturday at First Baptist. The family will receive friends from 11 a. m. until the time of service at 12 noon.
Mrs. Brown was born in Thomasville, GA to the late Robert Coleman and Minnie Lee Robinson on July 9, 1919. She moved to Gretna, FL where she remained until 1945. She then relocated with her son, Bernard Flowers, to Tampa.
Mrs. Brown, who was a for- mer member of Mt. Zion Mis- sionary Baptist Church, was a member of First Baptist for over 60 years. She was a member of Choir #1 and the Johnsonaires, as well as the Missionary and Deaconess Boards. She was af- filiated with the Deaconess Council of Congress #4 and the Deaconess Ministry of the First South Florida Missionary Bap- tist Association.
She loved working with young people as she was a Girl Scout leader, and a Sunday School and BTU teacher for many years. She would always accompany a group of young people to Youth Saturday at the Congress.
Her love for impacting the lives of children and young peo- ple was further displayed by her obtaining a Bachelor of Arts de- gree in Education from Univer- sity of South Florida in 1973. This certified her to teach with Hillsborough County Public Schools until her retirement in 1984. Her passion for influenc- ing young lives in a positive manner drove her to continue teaching at Grace Christian

A homegoing celebration in loving memory of Mr. Alphonso H. Jackson will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at First M. B. Church, 6720 County Road 579, Seffner, FL 33584, with Rev. Robert Dou- glas, Jr., officiating.
Viewing will be held on Fri- day, August 26, 2016, from 5-7 p. m. at Gudes Funeral Home, 4050 E. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa, FL 33610.

she continued to roll up her sleeves by working with young people as a beacon of light to her West Tampa Community. She was the secretary of the Neighborhood Block Watch. She never met a stranger, was always willing to help others, as she was a perfect example of Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Mrs. Brown was known around the city for her poetry – she published a book, “Chil- dren of God Poetry” in 1999, in which all content was written by her – and did poetry recitals throughout the country. She also gained notoriety for her playwriting and productions. Mrs. Brown treasured life up until her passing at the age of 97. When asked how she was doing, her response was always “Super, Super.”
Fondly known as “Mother Brown,” she leaves to cherish her memory: 1 son, Bernard Flowers of Brooklyn, Wiscon- sin; 2 daughters, Margaret Brookins of Tampa and Sybil Brown of Columbus, Ohio; 1 foster son, Deacon Hinesman Dukes of Tampa; 2 foster daughters, Barbara Dennis and Ana Gabriel (also her care- giver) of Tampa; 2 grandchil- dren, Bernard (Carla Rae) Flowers, Jr. and Cynthia (Regina) Weaver, both of Warner Robins, Georgia; 5 great-grandchildren, Bernard (Jamiyah Wallace) Flowers, III, Stephon Flowers, Daniel Reeves, Jr., and Jarvis Flowers, all of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Carrena (Grover) Colbert of Tampa; 13 great-great grand- children; nephews, Robert Chestnut and Albert (Hosetta) Coleman of Tampa, Walter Smith, Jr. and Alfred (Eliza- beth) Smith of Gretna, Florida, Arllie Lee Coleman, Jr. and Michael Coleman of Boston, Massachusetts, and Roosevelt Baker of Havana, Florida; nieces, Leartis Mayes of Tampa, Mary (David) Long, and Gwendolyn Smith of Gretna, FL; and a host of great nieces and nephews, great- great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends, including loving neighbors Gwen and Robert Gaddis, and Rev. MRS. DOROTHY ELIZABETH PRUITT
A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Pruitt of Tampa, who passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, will be held Saturday, August 27th, 11 a. m. at Rivers of Life Church Min- istries, 301 N. Lakewood Dr., Brandon, Florida, Rev. Curtis Swafford, pastor, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Ceme- tery.
Dorothy was born May 1, 1977 in Tampa. She attended the schools of Hillsborough County. Dorothy was a devoted, loving mother and wife; she loved noth- ing more than spending quality time with her husband and chil- dren. She enjoyed shopping with her girls and was an extremely talented hairstylist, a gift that she passed on to her girls.
The activities she loved were dancing, decorating, cleaning, and attending family reunions and gatherings, but most of all she loved the Lord and the word of God. She spent countless hours soaking in the bathtub with her Bible. She called this “Her quite time with the Lord.”
She was preceded in death by her father, Ronnie Simmons; grandmothers, Dorothy Jackson and Evelyn Simmons; great- grandmother, Maeola Wilson; niece, Natalia Leonard; aunt, Annie Mae Simmons and uncle, Ulysses Whitening. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with: her husband, Perys Pruitt; children, Nadia, McKayla, Bri- anna, Perys and Nyree Pruitt; grandchild, Haven Logan Pat- ton; mother, Lealer Doe (An- drew); step-mother, Patsy Simmons; grandfather, Kenneth B. MR. PRESTON EUGENE LIVINGSTON
The homegoing celebration of life for Mr. Preston Eugene Livingston who departed this life on Sunday, August 21, 2016, will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016at2p.m.atTheRiversOf Life Church, 301 Lakewood Dr., Brandon, FL, 33510, Curtis A. Swafford, pastor. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Preston Eugene Livingston was born on March 11, 1968 to Patricia Cannon and Preston Livingston, Sr., in Tampa. He at- tended school in the Jackson Heights area, graduating from Hillsborough High School, Class of 1986. He also attended Bethune- Cookman University, graduating in 1992 with a degree in Accounting.
Preston was the oldest male grandchild of his immediate family so he was regarded more as an older brother than cousin. At the time of his death, he was owner of Presto’s Bail Bond. His favorite past times were attend- ing his son’s football games, rid- ing his beloved motorcycle and attending Bike Week in the dif- ferent places they were held.
He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Allen Kendrick and Elizabeth Kendrick; his two brothers, Damion Livingston and Tavius Edwards; and cousin, Randall Harrison.
Preston leaves cherished memories with: his two sons, Juawan and Javon Colby Liv- ingston; godson, Keion Taylor; his devoted mother, Patricia (Arthur) Cannon; father, Pre- ston (Cecelia) Livingston, Sr.; fi- ancée, Earlene Joseph; brothers, Emory Walker, Revis Livingston, Javon Johnson, Der- rick Cannon, Artie (Marilyn) Cannon; sisters, Mia Livingston, Krysta Livingston, Amber Thomas, Tari Thomas, and Teria (Michael) Richardson; aunts, Yvonne (Johnnie) Simmons, Gloria Grimsley, Deborah (Michael) Parker, Cheryl (Fred) Thomas, Carolyn (Bill) Drewery, Tangela (Jamal) Samuels, Eliza- beth Fennell, Beatrice Brown, and Irene Hamilton; uncles, Edwin (Gina) Kendrick, Michael Kendrick, and Bernard Kendrick; mother of his chil- dren, Nadine Wynter; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention, de- voted friends, David Bonner, Darrien Alverch, Dee Russell; The Brown and Motor Club Friends, The Rivers of Life Church family, The New Greater Friendship Church family, and First Baptist Church of Progress Village Church family.
Visitation will be held on Fri- day, August 26, from 5-8 p. m. at New Greater Friendship Church. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p. m. at the church. All reflections of memories for Pre- ston must be done at the visita- tion on Friday night. There will be no reflections allowed at the service on Saturday.
The family is asking every- one to assemble at the church on Saturday for the service.
