LIL WAYNE
Just when they seemed to be reaching reconciliation, the news broke that Lil Wayne is not interested in reaching a set- tlement with Birdman and Cash Money Records and is con- tinuing his $51 million lawsuit against his label.
At a concert at Comerica The- atre in Phoenix last weekend, Weezy F. Baby had an an- nouncement for his fans who are riding with him through the bumpy process.
"Before I go any further, I want y'all to know I got two new al- bums coming y'all way," he says. He then issues another diss to- wards his former father figure and explains why he wants to move forward from the label he came up in the game with.
Lil Wayne revealed his strug- gles with Cash Money in De- cember of 2014 when he took to Twitter to demand off the label. He says the beef stems from Birdman blocking the release of Tha Carter V.
Since then, he has become a part-owner of TIDAL and re- leased his Free Weezy Album through the platform.
Drake’s Memorial Day Party Plagued By Girl Fights
Drake is chillin’ with his boys, but the girls were fighting.
Snoop Dogg's disdain for the Alex Haley Roots remake has earned him a new detrac- tor in TV One correspondent Roland Martin. The re- vamped miniseries premiered on Memorial Day via History, A&E and Lifetime's channels to 5.3 million viewers (8.5 mil- lion when re-airing numbers were tallied), making it the biggest miniseries audience in more than three years.
But the legendary rap star didn't have a fuck to give on the matter. He inadvertently gave the show promotion by blasting it ahead of its spectac- ular opening.
"I can't watch no mo' mof.....n' Black movies with niggas getting dogged out," Snoop said on Instagram be-
fore citing 12 Years a Slave and Underground as other means of edutainment he couldn't get jiggy with. Mar- tin, however, took issue with Snoop's issues.
"So @SnoopDogg is de- manding films showing suc- cessful Blacks, yet in 75 Hollywood credits, the closest he's done is Soul Plane. Re- ally?" Martin tweeted. "If @SnoopDogg wants to show movies with successful Blacks, then when will he actually play one? Produce one? Finance one? Direct one? #Roots. On IG, @SnoopDogg says he's a "real nigga." But in @RootsSeries, when #Kun- taKinte was called a nigger, he said, "I'm a mandinka warrior. Maybe if @SnoopDogg both- ered to watch @RootsSeries, he would see the Mandinka warrior and and not see him- self as slave masters did: A nigger."
Snoop didn't directly re- spond to Martin, but he did post a rather telling meme that aligned with the conflict he had stirred up. It read, "The trick is to care about everyone while not caring what they think."
The social media stir did at- tract the attention of Levar Burton, the longtime actor who portrayed Kunta Kinte for much of the original ver- sion, and was one of the direc- tors for the remake, sympathized with Snoop's stance and even offered to sit down and discuss it.
Footage of groups of women fighting at a Drake party over the holiday weekend are sur- facing all over social media.
A Memorial Day party hosted by Drake went all the way left when several groups of women began brawling, during the party at the rap- per's home in Hidden Hills, California. Amateur footage of the brawls, which was ob- tained by TMZ, shows two to three different groups of women fighting at the same
time.
It is currently unclear what
caused the various fights.
In addition to the brawls, at one point cops were called due to noise complaints. A para- medic was also reportedly on
the scene of Drake's party. During the party, Drake was likely celebrating the re- lease of his VIEWS album. Re- leased last month, the album reportedly sold over 600,000
copies in one night.
Snoop’s ranted about the ‘Roots’ remake that led to the social media war with TVOne’s Roland Martin.
