Chapter named Southern Province Reclamation Large Alumni Chapter of the Year
JACKSONVILLE – The Tampa Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was named Southern Province Alumni Reclama-
tion Chapter of the Year in the large category during the 67th Southern Province Council Meeting in Jack- sonville.
Reclamation is one of the platforms Kappa Alpha Psi Grand Polemarch Thomas L. Battles wanted to imple- ment nationally and Tampa Alumni went to task to help
make his vision a reality. Some of the organiza- tion’s projects include a men- toring program for Tampa Bay area boys, involvement with Sheehy Elementary School, a community fitness boot camp as well as sup- porting local organizations such as Big Brothers, Big Sis-
ters.
Progress Village Seventh Day Adventist Church held their Community Guest Day on Saturday, May 20th. Dur- ing the service, to individuals were recognized for their work in the community.
Award recipients were Patricia Wilson for her work and dedication to the
Community Services Depart- ment of the church providing food to over 100 people weekly. Linda Washing- ton, President of the Progress Village Civic Coun- cil, Inc., who was recognized for her tireless efforts and de- voted service to the Progress Village Community.
Tampa Silhouettes Named Southern Province Chapter Of The Year
The Tampa Silhouettes were named Southern Province Chapter of the Year during the meeting.
The Tampa Silhouettes are made up of wives and widows of members of Tampa Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Led by their president Joyce Daniels, the Silhouettes put on local projects in the com- munity as well as assisted in projects of Tampa Alumni.
“We were surprised and pleased that our Southern Province Coordinator Sil- houette Brenda Beale se- lected our Tampa chapter to be the 2017 Silhouette Chap- ter of the Year,” Daniels said.
The Silhouettes have an ongoing service project that provides books to the after school program at the Gwen- dolyn M. Miller Community

Center. There are around 100 students who attend the cen- ter ranging from pre-kinder- garten to high school.
Miller was not only a
member of the Tampa Silhou- ettes, but is the Immediate Past National President. They have donated more than 3,000 books to the center.
