This week’s Spotlight feature is Kaila. She wants everyone to know that she is a force to be reckoned with, and she won’t stop until she reaches her goal of total success. This young lady deserves all of the praise she gets, because she’s worked so hard to get to the door of opportunity, and also has managed to stay fo- cused and down-to-earth during her journey. Congrat- ulations to Kaila as this week’s Spotlight feature.

Deadline Approaching For MLK
Parade Scholarship
The application deadline is November 30th.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation is again offering scholarships to deserving high school seniors who demonstrate not only ac- ademic excellence, but also a heart for service to the com- munity and an understanding of Dr. King’s life and legacy.
Scholarship applications are available for download from the foundation’s website, www.mlkjrparade.com, under “Scholarship Program.” Appli- cants can download the appli- cation to apply on line. Mailed applications must be post- marked by November 30, 2022. Instructions for sub- mission, requirements and de- tailed qualifications are spelled out in the application. For additional questions, call the Parade Foundation at (813) 803-8060.
Past recipients have gone on to Ivy League schools, HBCUs, and many other schools of note across the country.
The Foundation also ap- preciates scholarship dona- tions for those who want to support the program directly. Donations can be sent to Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation, 5508 N. 50th St., Ste. 28, Tampa, FL 33610, or by visiting the website above.
Scholarship recipients will be announcd at the 2023 MLK Parade Gala to be held Thurs- day, January 5, 2023, at the Hilton Tampa Downtown, 233 N. Tampa St., Tampa 33602.
