Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Celebrates Centennial

On November 12, 2022, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, will celebrate their centennial. The Kappa Omega Sigma alumni chapter will host a weekend of events designed to showcase the mo- mentous occasion.
Sigma Gamma Rho Soror- ity, Inc. was organized on No- vember 12, 1922, in Indianapolis, Indiana, by seven young educators. The group became an incorporated national collegiate sorority on December 30, 1929, when a charter was granted to the Alpha chapter at Butler Uni- versity.
Kappa Omega Sigma presi- dent Kim Blackmon says that their chapter will be hav- ing a weekend of celebrations from November 11 through November 13.
Blackmon, who pledged Sigma Gamma Rho at the Uni- versity of Tampa and owns Glowmour Beauty MediSpa, wants to get the word out. There are four alumna chap- ters in the Tampa Bay area, so look for sorors from the other chapters at the upcoming cele- brations.

Lakeland Regional Hospital. It fits under our Cradle Car Na- tional Program,” Blackmon explained.
On Friday evening, there will be a mixer to kick off the celebration. On Saturday, there will be a special showing of “Wakanda Forever,” and on Sunday, there will be a sorors- only Sisterhood Brunch.
The main event will be the Centennial Sneaker Ball on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Xavier Harris from WFLA- TV will host the event. There will be an open bar, dinner, champagne toast, and more.
Blackmon also stated, “Sigma Gamma Rho sorors will be celebrating around the world. We want to include everyone in our centennial. Fellow Greeks, non-Greeks, it doesn’t matter. This is such a special occurrence that we want everyone to share in it.”
“As the president of the chapter, I am so happy that this occasion happened on my watch. It’s a chance to go fur- ther with our organization.”
