Man Arrested After Pointing
Help Needed In Locating Attempted Murder Suspect

On April 27th at 2 a. m., Pasco County Sheriff’s Office detectives reported that a fight started in the street near 37485 Acorn Loop in Dade City. A witness reported that Anetia Austin and the victim were arguing when Austin walked away and returned, stabbing the victim during a second argument.
The victim, who was not identified, suffered life threat- ening injuries after suffering several stab wounds and was hospitalized.
Detectives immediately ob- tained an arrest warrant for Austin on a charge of at- tempted first-degree murder.
Authorities Investigating Death Of Man At Nursing Home
On Saturday at 9:45 p. m., the Pinellas Park Police De- partment was notified by para- medics that an adult elderly male was being transported to the hospital and was the pos- sible victim of abuse. Initially it appeared that the elderly man may have been left out- side the Gracewood Nursing Homeinthesunandasare- sult, he received second degree burns with blisters, and was dehydrated.
It was reported to police that the man, later identified as 65-year-old Wilbert Henry Moten, went into car- diac failure and was pro- nounced dead.
Detectives are investigating what occurred at the nursing home and will be working to determine if any abuse oc- curred and if so, did it con- tribute to the death of Mr. Moten.
Mr. Moten who was in a wheelchair, reportedly moved around the nursing home freely.
Authorities also reported that Mr. Moten had no living relatives and was under the care of a caregiver.

Laser At Sheriff’s Helicopter
Of 230 Pounds Of Marijuana
On April 27th, at 10:20 p.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office re- ports that at 4050 Rocky Cir- cle, a Sheriff’s helicopter occupied by two pilots, ob- served a dark vehicle with three occupants shining a laser light device into the cockpit of the helicopter.
The pilots directed patrol units to the defendant’s vehi- cle.
Deputies saw a black Toy- ota Corolla parked facing north within the Lofts Apart- ments complex. The driver was identified as Ismail Ab- dullah. A 6-inch black laser was found in the front passen-

Abdullah allegedly told
deputies he was the one who was playing with the laser and had done it as a joke. Abdul- lah was arrested and charged with misuse of laser lighting device.
St. Petersburg Police Vice and Narcotics detectives have been aware of Vaughn “Nino Breeze” Matthews, 24, for several years.
A tip that Matthews was storing large quantities of marijuana at his apartment, 871 Ibis Walk Place, North, #4108, led police to obtain a search warrant.
On March 23rd, investiga- tors entered the apartment and found 23 pounds of mari- juana packaged and ready for distribution inside the kitchen cabinets, 3 guns, and $87,000 in suspected drug money.
Detectives continued their investigation into Matthews’ operation over the next month. As a result, they were able to identify 230 pounds of marijuana (including 23 pounds from his apartment)

and a total of $168,000 in cash associated with Matthews’ operation.
The U. S. Postal Service as- sisted with the case, and 230 pounds of marijuana, at $5,000-a-pound, had a street value of $1,150,000.
Matthews was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and additional charges are pending.
Arrest Made In Road Rage Shooting
Cell Phone Photo Leads To Arrest
On Saturday, April 30th, St. Petersburg Police reported that Malcolm DiPina, 22, and several friends were trav- eling in two separate vehicles through St. Petersburg. The two vehicles were traveling north on 4th Street, South just after midnight when Scott Franklin, 41, who was also driving a vehicle, pulled next to them.
Franklin and the occu- pants of DiPina’s vehicle be- came involved in a verbal altercation due to one of the vehicles cutting off the other.
The vehicles continued west, then turned north onto 6th Street, South. Franklin stopped his vehicle alongside of DiPina’s car at the red light at 5th Avenue, South. The incident escalated at that lo-

edly shot Franklin. DiPina and his friends fled the night the shooting occurred, but re- turned later during the day to speak to the investigating de- tectives.
DiPina was arrested and charged with manslaughter.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports that a good lead in the investigation into the theft of a pair of cell phones was aided by a photo of one of the suspects that led to a Facebook tip and arrest.
Detectives identified Eric Phelps, 40, as the face that appeared on one of the cell phones. He was already in jail after his arrested April 21st, the day after the cell phones were stolen.
When Phelps was booked into jail, he reportedly had the stolen cell phones with him.
Phelps will now be charged with grand theft, along with the other charges he was already in custody for.
Detectives said the victim left his Samsung Galaxy S6 and his black LG Stylist cell phones on the counter at the

Citgo Station, 3355 Spirit Lake Road at 6 p.m. on April 20th. When he went back, store employees told him a man had taken the phones, claiming they were his.
What Phelps didn’t know was that the victim had in- stalled an app on one of the phones that takes a photo of the user when the wrong se- curity code is entered on the phone.
Former Probation Officer Sought On Drug Trafficking, Conspiracy Charges
Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives are looking for for- mer Polk County Probation Officer, William McDon- ald, III, 32, for conspiracy to traffic in methamphetamine and other charges.
Authorities said McDon- ald fled the scene of 5710 4th Street, Southeast during the investigation and arrest of Dustin Moyer, 29, who lived at the same address as McDonald.
During a methampheta- mine trafficking investigation of Moyer, detectives re- ported seeing a black Ford F250 truck pull up in the yard of the residence. Detectives pulled in behind the truck with unmarked vehicles with emergency lights activated and blocked it from the rear.

An arrested warrant for McDonald has been issued for conspiracy to traffic in methamphetamine over 200 grams, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, reckless driving with property damage, resisting arrest with violence and violation of pro- bation.
