 NFL Alumni Association Participates In Park Groundbreaking Ceremony
 The National Football League (NFL) Alumni Associ- ation Chapter, the Tampa Housing Authority (THA) and the Related Urban Develop- ment Group (RUDG) cele- brated the goundbreaking of a neighborhood park and state- of-the-art NFL obstacle course. The groundbreaking was held during Tasmpa’s Super Bowl LV Week.
Bemetra Salter Lig- gins, THA Board of Directors Vice Chair, served as Mistress of Ceremonies.
Program participants were: Rev. Larry Roundtree, II, Pastor, New Mt. Zion M. B. Church; Wal- ter Carter, President, NFL Alumni Association; Mayor Jane Castor, Peter Van Warnber (RUDG), Joseph Robinson, West Tampa CRA-CAC Chairman; and clos- ing remarks by Jerome
In front are: Jordan Jefferson, Super Bowl Halftime Dancer; Tampa Housing Authority’s David Iloanya; Heather Castle, Big Brothers Big Sisters; NFL Alumni President, Walter Carter; and Tyrone Keys. In the rear are, NFL alums, Eddie McMillian and Mike Butler. Cheerleaders also joined the group.

The park will feature a 40- yard dash as well as multiple obstacles including agility set ups, floating boards, ninja
steps and more. The park will serve residents and visitors of West River, currently under- going a massive redevelop- ment transforming the historically
underserved 120-acre parcel into a multi-generational, mixed-use, mixed-income community.
For the NFL Alumni Chap- ter, the initiative is part of
their mission of “Caring for Kids” across the country where player alumni give back to their local communities through their 35 regional chapters.
