Murder Suspect Taken Into Custody
MRS. BARBARA WEST-SHAZER
Mrs. Barbara West-Shazer of Tampa, Florida, gained her Heav- enly Wings on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. A Celebration of Life Memo- rial Service will be conducted on Saturday, October 29th, 2022 at 1 p. m. at Peace Progressive Community Church, 2628 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida, with Elder Timothy J. Kemp, Officiating.
Mrs. Barbara West- Shazer was born in Beatrice, AL on September 3rd, 1954. She moved to Tampa, Florida at an incredibly early age. She attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and she was a proud Alumni of Middleton High School and graduated from Plant High School, “Class of ‘72.” She later furthered her education at the University of Tampa.
Mrs. Barbara West-Shazer was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother and friend and always shared words of wisdom. She moti- vated others daily through her so- cial media handles. Most of all we will miss her lovely smile and posi- tive attitude.
Barbara was married to Curtis Shazer, Jr. and was blessed with two daughters. She was a faithful member of Peace Progressive Com- munity Church. Barbara West- Shazer was a loving, fun, and caring person that was truly a joy to be around.
She was preceded in death by: her mother, Irene West; father, William Nettles; grandparents, Nannie and Horace Andrews, Woodrow and Ollie Nettles; broth- ers, Ulysses West and William Net- tles, Jr.; adopted grandmother, Willie Bea Jackson; uncles, Frankie, Kenneth and Felix (Mary) Andrews.
She leaves to cherish her pre- cious memories with: devoted hus- band, Curtis Shazer, Jr.; daughters, Aisha and Ashley Shazer; grand- children, Elija, Emari, Elias, Keiton Shazer, Zai’Quiaya Jackson; great- granddaughter, Faith Shazer; par- ent/loving devoted father, Samuel West; loving stepmother, Vida C. Nettles; sisters, Voncille Richard- son, Nannett, Tawanna West, Lam- onica (Lateff) Tellis, Veronica Nettles- Stewart; brothers, Adar- ryl, Darrel (Talisa), Michael (Terry) West; aunts, Murlean, Joyce, Ann Andrews, Bertha Nettles; uncles, Jerry and Terry (Tequila) Andrews; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends and family including, Middleton Class of “72” and All Classes of “72”, Niecy Jones, Gail Flowers, Mary Shorter, Cato Family (Cheryl), Stitts Family (Pat), Hopson Family (Tiffany), Joyce McHenry, Brooks Family (Carolyn), Peace Progressive Community Church, Progress Village and Cen- tral Park Village.

MR. HERBERT CHARLES RICHARDSON
Mr. Herbert Charles Richard- son of Tallahassee, FL, formerly of Tampa, passed away on Oct. 12, 2022. He was born Dec. 1, 1949 in Clearwater, FL to Adam Jeffer- son Richardson and Inez Walker Richardson. Shortly after birth, his family moved to Tampa, where he was raised. He was a graduate of H. W. Blake High School, class of 1967. He graduated from FL A&M University, where he was a drum major from 1968-1972. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Frater- nity.
An educator for 37 years, he taught in Maryland and in Leon and Gadsden Counties in Florida. He retired in 2012.
A Celebration of Life service was held on October 18, at Bethel AME Church where he had served faithfully as a steward and a mem- ber of the Sanctuary Choir, Male Chorus and the Henry McNeal Turner Society.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Halim Richard- son; and a sister, Shady R. Hunter.
He is survived by: his wife of 46 years, Angela Cason Richard- son; son, Herbert Cason Richard- son; 3 grandchildren, Morgan, Malachi, and Micah Richardson; brother, Bishop Adam J. Richard- son, Jr. (Connie); nieces and nephews, Ernesta H. Hickman (Joe), Ernest S. Hunter, Sr. (Nic- hole), Eric Hunter (Beyred), Monique Richardson, Adam ”Trey” Richardson, III, Phillip Everett and Antoine Everett; maternal aunts and uncle, Curtiss Walker Wilson, Mary Walker Scott, and Mordecai Walker; godsons, Marquis Lucas and Andre Jamison; and many other relatives and friends, includ- ing the Cason, Richardson, James and Walker families.

3700 block of Coral Drive in reference to a shooting. When deputies arrived, they discov- ered a victim who had been shot several times.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue transported the victim to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Rashaad Kerney is cur- rently being held at the Hills- borough County Jail without bond.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has taken into custody a 21-year-old man linked to a murder. The arrest was made on October 18, 2022.
Last week, detectives is- sued an arrest warrant for
Rashaad Kerney, for sec- ond-degree murder with a firearm.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office detectives, on Friday, October 7, 2022, just before 5 p. m., deputies responded to the
