     Trinity CME Church Launches 2019 Black History Lecture Series

...To receive “Power Couple” Award
 Trinity CME Church launches its 30th annual Black History Lec- ture Series on Tuesdays during the month of February. The 30- year tradition is designed to edu- cate the church members and community residents about the roles Blacks played in developing America and their contributions made throughout the planet.
The lecture discussions will be held at 7 P. M. on February 5, 12, 19, and 26th, in the church sanctuary located at 2401 North Howard Avenue (corner of Pal- metto Street and Howard Av- enue). This year’s lecture series includes interesting topics as fol- lows:
February 5: Part Two: Gen- esis: The History of the African Upon The Face of The Earth, the continuation of a video chroni- cling the history of Blacks done in poetry by James E. Tokley, Poet Laureate for Tampa and Hillsborough County.
February 12: Tuskegee Air- men, Steven Spears, the son of Tuskegee pilot Captain Leon “Woodie” Spears, who became a prisoner of war in Poland, uses videos and a display to share Spears’ story and interesting facts about the history of the Tuskegee Airmen.
February 19: Blacks in The Bible -- Attendees will use their Bibles to locate and discuss Black characters and their roles in the Bible.
February 26: Behind The Scenes of Black Elected Officials. County Commissioner Les- ley Miller and his wife, former City Councilperson Gwen- dolyn Miller will share their ex- periences of what an elected official faces as a minority – com- promises, trade-offs, and chal- lenges. They will receive a “Power Couple Award” for their distin- guished political careers and community service.
