Man Sentenced For Civil Rights Violation Against
Woman Convicted In Arson Case

A federal jury convicted a Sarasota woman of conspir- acy to commit arson. She is facing a mandatory mini- mum sentence of 5 years in prison.
Ms. Rashica Shaguana Ford, 39, Jodarin Mar- quis Whitfield, 27, of Sara- sota, and 39-year-old Herbert Adelphus Pinck- ney, of Avon Park, were all indicted and charged in No- vember 2017.
Investigators said Ms. Ford is Whitfield’s girl- friend and Pinckney’s sis- ter. She is accused of orchestrating the arson in re- taliation for an altercation
between her and an un- named victim.
According to testimony at trial, during the early morn- ing hours of March 11, 2015, Whitfield and Pinckney set fire to a home by attempt- ing to throw a Molotov cock- tail through the victim’s bedroom window. The owner, 2 other adults and 5 children were inside at the time.
The Molotov cocktail failed to break the window, but caused damage to the outside of the structure. No one was injured.
A sentencing date has not been set for Ms. Ford.

Grant Park Murder
A 59-year-old Tampa man was sentenced to prison and or- dered to pay a fine by a federal judge after he pleaded guilty to a felony civil rights violation.
David H. Howard pleaded guilty on February 27, 2018. U. S. District Judge Mary Scriven sentenced him to serve 8 months in prison, followed by 2 years of supervised release. In addition, Howard was court to pay $30,000 in restitution.
Howard intimidated and interfered with a family trying to buy a home on Davis Island. He reportedly threatened to burn down the home simply because it was being bought by a Muslim family.
According to court docu- ments, on Nov. 3, 2016, a Mus- lim man, identified as K. A., and his wife were conducting the final walk-through of a home they had placed under contract. As K. A. arrived for the final walk-through, Howard ap- proached him, the seller, and the realtors, and yelled, “This sale will not take place!” Howard threatened to burn the house down, and told K. A., “You are not welcome here!”
The couple left and cancelled the closing of the home pur- chase.
In the days that followed, Howard retold his version of the incident to neighbors, mak- ing insulting remarks about Muslims.
The case was investigated by the Justice Department, the U. S. Attorney’s Office for the Mid- dle District of Florida, and the Federal Bureau of Investiga- tions.
ELIJAH MOORE ... Found fatally shot on Jan. 17, 2018
Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for a man wanted in connection with a murder. The murder took place on January 17, 2018, in Grant Park.
Sheriff’s detectives deter- mined that 23-year-old Javon Rakeem Turner was a sus- pect in the crime.
Turner is known to fre- quent the Grant Park area where the murder took place. Detectives said Turner should be considered armed and dan- gerous.
Detectives said Turner also goes by the name of “Verge.” He is described as being 6’1” and weighing 150 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.

took place 6 months after Turner was released from Florida State Prison for bur- glary and grand theft.
On the day of the murder, deputies responded to 3703 Carraway Street, in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they discovered 22-year-old Elijah Moore had been shot. Moore died at the scene.

Man Who Escaped In Handcuffs Quickly Caught
Members of the Tampa Po- lice Department quickly appre- hended a man who escaped in handcuffs. The incident took place last Saturday in East Tampa.
According to police, offi- cers responded to the 3500 block of 16th Street in reference to an aggravated battery. While en route, the officers ob- served a man riding a bicycle on N. 16th Street and E. Lake Avenue.
The officers attempted to stop him, but he fled, but was eventually stopped. He was identified as 18-year-old Christopher Reddick. An officer placed Reddick in handcuffs and was in the process of escorting him to the patrol car when the officer slipped, losing his grip on Reddick. Reddick took ad- vantage of the situation and fled the scene on foot.

unsuccessful. They later re- ceived a tip that Reddick was seen in the 200 block of E. Stratford Avenue.
Officers responded to the area and Reddick surren- dered without incident. He was still wearing the handcuffs.
Reddick was taken into custody and charged with es- caping the custody of a law en- forcement officer, resisting arrest without violence, pos- session of cocaine, petit theft, and criminal mischief.
He is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail on a $1,250 bond.
A 33-year- old Bradenton man was sen- tenced to 13 years in fed- eral prison. He pleaded guilty to drug charges on December 21, 2017.

13 Years On
Drug Charges
According to court docu- ments, Skyler Christopher Sanders and his associates sold drugs out of a house in Bradenton that operated as an open-air drug market. The drugs included cocaine, cocaine base, heroin, methampheta- mine, carfentanil and fentanyl. Sanders and his associates sold the drugs to undercover detectives on several occasions.
