Cam Newton, Russell Wilson Face Off In NFL Playoffs
Rams Headed Back To Los Angeles; Chargers Have Option To Join
HOUSTON -- The Rams are moving back to Los Angeles -- and might be doing so with company.
The San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders might end up staying where they are, but leadership of the teams didn't come close to making that com- mitment Tuesday night. One of them could be headed to L.A. too.
A long day of votes and re- votes ended with 30 of 32 NFL owners approving Rams owner Stan Kroenke's ambitious plan to move his team from St. Louis to the site of the old Hol- lywood Park racetrack in Ingle- wood, California, about 10 miles from downtown L.A. The Chargers have a yearlong op- tion to join the Rams, followed by the Raiders if the San Diego franchise declines.

This weekend, the road to Super Bowl 50 will continue with matchups that will fea- ture a pair of African Ameri- can quarterbacks, and an African American coach trying to win a second Super Bowl.
In one of the matchups, the Seattle Seahawks will be trying to reach their third straight Super Bowl under the leader- ship of quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson put his team on his back during the second half of the regular sea- son, propelling them into the playoffs. With a league leading defense that gives up very lit- tle, the Seahawks will be look- ing to impose their will on the Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers, who lost only one game during the regular season, will be lead by Heis- man Trophy winner and pre- sumptive league MVP, quarterback Cam Newton.
The Panthers will be trying to make their second Super Bowl appearance in the history of the franchise.
In the AFC, the Pittsburg Steelers will face the Denver Broncos and, once again be playing in the post season. Their head coach, Mike Tom- lin, will be out to secure his second Super Bowl victory.
The other matchups will in- clude the Green Bay Packers against the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC, and the New Eng- land Patriots against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Patriots and Chiefs will face off on Saturday with the game to be played at 4:35 p.m. on CBS, and on Sunday, the Steelers and Broncos will kick off at 4:40 p.m. on CBS.
In the NFC, Green Bay will face the Cardinals on Satur- day, 8:15 p.m. on NBC. On

Vontaze Burfict Hopes To Meet With Roger Goodell Over Suspension
CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict is hoping a sit-down in the coming days with NFL commissioner Roger Good- ell may result in the three- game suspension the league handed him Monday night being reduced, a source close to Burfict said Tuesday.
Burfict wants to travel to league headquarters in New York to meet with Goodell at the commissioner's earliest convenience, the source said. Exactly when depends upon the commissioner's schedule. It's a schedule that includes a trip this week to Houston for league meetings.
Monday night, a source said that the fourth-year player was planning to appeal the suspen- sion, which was given for re- peated violations of player-safety rules.
In a news release, the league cited Burfict's most recent

transgression -- an unneces- sary roughness penalty with 22 seconds remaining in Sat- urday's AFC wild-card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers -- as the tipping point. On the play, Burfict hit Steelers re- ceiver Antonio Brown after Brown couldn't catch a high pass from Ben Roethlis- berger. Brown currently is under the concussion protocol because of the hit.
