Prosecutors Won't Charge Lamar Odom
Ben Roethlisberger Has AC Sprain, Torn Ligaments In Throwing Shoulder
Pittsburgh Steelers quarter- back Ben Roethlisberger confirmed during his weekly radio show Tuesday that he has a sprained AC joint and torn ligaments in his throwing shoulder.
Roethlisberger told 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh that his right shoulder is "definitely sore" but maintained that his status is still day-to-day as the Steelers prepare for Sunday's AFC divisional-round game against the Broncos in Denver.
Multiple sources told re- porters on Monday that Roethlisberger is likely to play against Denver. The three- time Pro Bowler said Tuesday that he would "do whatever I can to be out there, but not at the expense of my team."
"I'll go in tomorrow with the intent to see what I can do," Roethlisberger said during the interview. "I honestly don't know."

Steelers coach Mike Tom- lin said later Tuesday that Roethlisberger "has a chance" to play against the Broncos but admitted that he would probably be limited in Wednesday's practice. Landry Jones will get the majority of the reps at quarterback early in the week.
LAMAR ODOM
MONTE IRVIN
LAS VEGAS -- Lamar Odom won't be charged with any drug counts after the former NBA star was found uncon- scious last year at a Nevada brothel with cocaine in his sys- tem, prosecutors said Monday.
Evidence in the case did not prove that Odom used the drug during his three days in Nye County, so he could not be charged with unlawful use of co- caine or being under the influ- ence of a controlled substance -- the felony count recommended by the sheriff's office, District Attorney Angela Bello said.
Odom wasn't in possession of any cocaine, and the cocaine discovered in his system had al- ready metabolized -- making it difficult to determine when he had used it -- when he was hos- pitalized Oct. 13 in extremely critical condition in Las Vegas, Bello said.
It's "unlikely it could [be] estab- lished beyond a reasonable doubt he actually ingested, or was impaired by, the drug dur- ing the time he was within the jurisdiction of Nye County," Bello said in a statement.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots defen- sive end Chandler Jones, who led the team with 12.5 sacks during the regular sea- son, was hospitalized Sunday for an undisclosed issue after he reportedly visited the Foxborough Police Depart- ment, where dispatch records show he was evaluated by five officers.

Monte Irvin Dies At Age 96
HOUSTON -- Hall of Famer Monte Irvin, a power-hitting outfielder who starred for the New York Giants in the 1950s during a career abbreviated by major league baseball's exclu- sion of black players, has died. He was 96.
The Hall of Fame said Irvin died of natural causes Monday at his Houston home.
Irvin was 30 when he joined the Giants in 1949, two years after Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier. Irvin spent
seven of his eight big league seasons with the Giants and one year with the Chicago Cubs in 1956. A native of Haleburg, Alabama, Irvin played in the Negro, Mexican and Puerto Rican leagues during his 20s.
Irvin batted .300 or better three times, with a high of .329 in 1953. He finished with a ca- reer average of .293, with 99 homers and 443 RBIs, num- bers that surely would have been far higher if not for the game's racial segregation.

In those discussions, Jackson indicated that he would prefer the organization move on from Manziel if he were to become coach, and he was told that would not be a problem.
