BY MONIQUE STAMPS Sentinel Staff Writer
Tampa native Spenser Hawthorne has written a new book for kids about Fi- nancial Literacy. The book, titled I Found A Dollar, is the first of a series of books that are designed to help kids navigate the world and learn valuable lessons. Jay- den is the main character.
Hawthorne is busy at work with the second book in Jayden’s Quest and is plan- ning to use various media to teach kids life lessons.
After graduating from Hillsborough High School, Hawthorne went to Missis- sippi Valley State University

on a football scholarship. He later transferred to and grad- uated from University of Central Florida.
Today, he is an account- ant and consultant. After years of hearing about finan-
cial crises from friends and family, he wanted to do something to help people understand financial trans- actions and managing money.
“Unfortunately, many people don’t receive financial training from their parents. They don’t have the tools or knowledge to make financial matters work for them. We tend to not create wealth or grow our financial position,” Hawthorne states.
“I have a nine-year-old daughter, and I wanted to create something she could understand. I started talking to her about finances when she was three years old. I want to do the same for

other kids,” says the proud “Girl” Dad.
The book was published in early September and can be purchased on the website, www.jaydensquests.com.
The next book in the se- ries, titled The Investment
Museum will debut in De- cember.
On the website, you can also find a link for a read- along version of the book on YouTube. Hawthorne also goes into detail into the rea- sons for naming the book.
“I am building a brand. We will have shirts, piggy banks, and Jayden dolls. I’d like to turn Jayden into a cartoon and have him ex- plore more subjects.”
Testimonials from par- ents are rolling in and Hawthorne could not be prouder.
Hawthorne and his wife, Jasmine, are the proud, happy parents of Taylor.
