Prince Is Cremated; Private Memorial Held
Prince's remains have been cremated, and a small group of family and friends held a pri- vate ceremony to honor the music legend, his publicist said Saturday.
Yvette Noel-Schure said in a statement that Prince's re- mains had been cremated without specifying when. His body was released to his family Friday afternoon after a Min- nesota medical examiner per- formed an autopsy.
"A few hours ago, Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved: family, friends and his musi- cians, in a private, beautiful ceremony to say a loving good- bye," Noel-Schure said in the statement.
The "final storage" of Prince's remains would re- main private, but an an- nouncement about a "musical celebration" is forthcoming, the statement said. Prince was found dead at the age of 57 Thursday at his estate in Chan- hassen, southwest of Min- neapolis. The cause of his death remains unknown. Au- thorities said Friday that the results of the investigation into Prince's death, including the autopsy results, could take days to weeks to complete, but Noel-Schure said Saturday that autopsy results would take at least a month.

PRINCE
On Saturday afternoon, Pais- ley Park staff dressed in black emerged from the gates of the sprawling complex and handed mourners shiny purple boxes containing CDs, t-shirts, books and other Prince memora- bilia.
It is unclear who Prince left his estate to or if he had a will.. Lawyers are beginning to un- ravel the fate of Prince's royal family fortune, a gold mine he accumulated after nearly four decades in show business. The Purple One left behind a vast music empire estimated to be worth upwards of $300 mil- lion, according to published re- ports.
Mutulu Shakur and Tupac Shakur.
MINEOLA, N.Y. — The step- father of late rapper Tupac Shakur has been denied pa- role from his federal prison sentence for leading a revolu- tionary group responsible for the slayings of an armed guard and two New York police offi- cers, a Justice Department spokesman told The Associated Press.
Mutulu Shakur appeared for a parole hearing on April 7 at the federal penitentiary in Victorville, California, after serving 30 years of his 60-year sentence. The 65-year-old was arrested in 1986 for master- minding a string of deadly armed robberies in New York and Connecticut committed by a militant political group known as “The Family.”
For the first time, Shakur had been eligible for what’s considered to be mandatory parole, but his release was de- nied by the U. S. Parole Com- mission, said Justice Department spokesman Peter Carr. Federal officials de- clined to comment on why Shakur’s parole was denied, saying the information is not publicly releasable. Shakur will be eligible for parole again in two years, Carr said.

Birdman Walks Off The Breakfast Club Interview After Charlamagne Goes In On Him
Birdman on The Breakfast Club on Friday.
The Oprah Winfrey Net- work (OWN) has ordered a 13- episode second season of the new original drama Greenleaf. The renewal was announced Wednesday night at the party following the series’ premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Greenleaf follows the pow- erful and unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family with scandalous secrets and lies, and their massive Memphis megachurch with predomi- nantly African-American members. The Memphis megachurch is run by Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David) and Lady Mae Greenleaf (Lynn Whit- field), it becomes evident that things are not as virtuous as
they seem and that the family’s outward display of faith hides sin and misdeeds.
Oprah Winfrey will play Mavis McCready, the sister of Lady Mae Greenleaf (Lynne Whitfield), as a re- curring role in the series. This will be Winfrey’s first recur- ring scripted television role in two decades. Winfrey will also star in a role on the drama series Queen Sugar directed by Ava DuVernay.
Greenleaf will launch with a two-night premiere on Tues- day, June 21 at 10 PM and Wednesday, June 22 at 10 PM on OWN, and will regularly air on Wednesdays at 10 PM for the remainder of its 13-episode first season.
Birdman‘s short-lived in- terview with The Breakfast Club became the stuff of Inter- net meme legend. The Cash Money founder apologized for his actions, but Charlam- agne was not buying what he was selling.
According to DJ Envy, Birdman reached out to him, apologized and said he was down to return to the show. “I spoke to Birdman after that and he did apologize,” said Envy. “He said he would love to come back up here and talk to us.”
He also wants to speak to Charlamagne face to face, but “Tha God” isn’t having it (“I’m cool on Birdman, God bless him”).
“Don’t try to be tough to the radio guy,” reiterated Charla- magne in the segment after Baby’s departure.
He added, “My thing is this, don’t pull up on the radio guy if you ain’t never pulled up on [Rick] Ross, or Trick [Daddy] or Pusha T or any of those dudes that’s really get- ting at you.”
