The Florida Highway Patrol investigated two traffic accidents that ended in tragedy. The acci- dents were not related. Both ac- cidents took place in Pasco County.
The first accident took place on Saturday on State Road 54 at Carpenter’s Run, in Pasco County.
A spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol said the accident took place about 7:40 a.m. Paul Joseph Mast, 38, of Land O’ Lakes, was driving his 2013 Nis- san Juke westbound on State Road 54. The bicyclist, identified as Franklin K. Williams, 54, of Tampa, was also traveling along the edge of the roadway.
Mast overtook and passed an- other vehicle and in the process of completing the pass, collided with the bicycle. Williams died at the scene.
Charges are pending the out-
Crime
come of the investigation.
The second accident took place Sunday afternoon at Blan- ton Road and Country Squire
Lane.
Investigators said Ms. Cami
Massingill, 48, was driving her 2004 Ford F150 westbound on Blanton Road, approaching Country Squire Lane. For unde- termined reasons, Ms. Massingill’s vehicle drifted into the eastbound lane of Blanton Road, causing a head-on collision with a 2012 Jeep SUV, driven by Ms. Anneliese Timm, 29, of Dade City. There were no passen- gers in either vehicle, police said.
Ms. Massingill was pro- nounced dead at the scene. Ms. Timm was transported to a local hospital. Her injuries were listed as serious.
