Hospital Group Hires New Medical Providers
Celebrates Match Day
On March 18th, a class at the University of South Florida Medical School celebrated Match Day at the Ulele Restaurant at Water Works Park. Congresswoman Kathy Castor visited the med- ical school to give the latest news on her work to improve federal funding for residency slots. She also announced new legislation she will introduce in Congress to help alleviate the projected physi- cian shortage and improve health care. (PHOTOS BY BRUNSON)

Recently, the Tampa Gen- eral Hospital Medical Group (TGMG) has added three new medical providers to its net- work. All three have been as- signed to different medical facilities.
Ms. Esmeralda Young,
NP-C has acquired board cer- tification in Basic Life Sup- port and as a Nurse Practitioner.
She earned her nursing degree at St. Petersburg Col- lege and her nursing Master of Science degree from South University, in Tampa.
Prior to joining the hospi- tal staff, Ms. Young was em- ployed as an Acute Care Nurse at Tampa General Hospital in the medical and surgical on- cology unit. She also practiced with Community Health Cen- ters of Pinellas County.
Ms. Young will care for patients 18 and older who visit the Tampa General Med- ical Group location at 2501 W. Kennedy Blvd.
Charles Friend, DO, MMHA, FAAFP, FACPE, FAWM, CPE, is a board certi- fied specialist in family medi-
cine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice, a fellow of the Amer- ican Academy of Physician Executives, and a fellow of the Wilderness Medicine Society.
He earned his medical de- gree from the University of Health Sciences College of Os- teopathic Medicine, in Kansas City, MO and his residency at Eglin Regional Medical Cen- ter at Eglin Air Force Base.
He is seeing patients at the TGMG Westchase location, 10718 Countryway Blvd, Tampa.
Bhumik Shah, MD, is a board certified Internal Med- icine specialist. He earned his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies and completed his residency at OSF St. Francis medical Cen- ter, Peoria, IL. Dr. Shah was a hospitalist providing inpa- tient care for acute and chronic medical conditions in Texas prior to joining TGMG.
He treats patients 18 years of age and older at the TGMG Healthpark location, 5802 N. 30th St., Tampa.
