4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION – DRONECON
After hosting an inaugural Drone Conference, EDTEA is exploring ways in which young entrepreneurs could manage cargo drones.
“We are informed that in the future cargo drones will fly more cheaply, fast and will be very safe. We want KZN to be the first province to have drone ports.
Imagining the vast possibilities that drones created, she said a network of drone ports could be located in the eleven district municipalities to service communities in remote areas where there is a lack of road infrastructure.
Drones could deliver medical supplies to rural clinics, hospitals and other community centers. Drone technology could be used in agriculture for crop spraying, assist small scale farmers to patrol their farms and reduce livestock theft which could amount to a R1 billion loss a year. It could also strengthen anti-poaching efforts in game reserves.
