Lost in Crete
Laurie Strange
KEY SELLING POINTS
A novel about Crete suffering airborne invasion and German reprisals against resistance.
Not a war story but one about relationships and how events and time inevitably alter them.
Set in Crete during the Second World War, the 1970s and turn of the century.
Why does news of the discovery of a Minoan earring turn Diane’s world on its head? And what is her daughter
Catherine, single parent to Ellie, to make of the holiday break that is suddenly announced for all three?
Confronting the maze of deception that awaits them, both women sense they are following in Ariadne’s
footsteps. Will their fate mirror hers?
Unearthing secrets long since buried, but now stubbornly emerging to haunt the present, they encounter both
love and betrayal in a land once scarred by the ravages of war-time invasion. The indomitable Cretan spirit and
hospitality have survived, but lurking in the shadows, some still harbour a bitter grievance.
Three generations, three thousand miles adrift, in a sea of echoes three thousand years old. All are Lost in
Crete.
