funeral funeral director in in in his independent family owned funeral funeral home Since then he he he has been a a a a a a member of the the New Brunswick Funeral Directors Association having served three terms as as as president He was a a a a a a a a past board member representing New Brunswick for the Canadian Independent Group of Funeral Homes He was a a a a a a a a government appointed board member on the New Brunswick Provincial Regulatory Board of Funeral Director’s and Embalmers for a a a a a a a four-year term Bishop’s Funeral Funeral Home has been a a a a a a a a a member of of the Funeral Funeral Service Association of of of Canada (FSAC) for a a a a a a a a a a number of of years and he is currently a a a a a a a a a board member representing NB since 2013 Jim was the Government Relations Committee chairman for FSAC In 2016 he he he was voted to the the executive of FSAC and and has been entrusted with the the roles of of Treasurer and and Vice-President of of the association During his time with FSAC Jim has been able to assist in in in the the revamping of the the organization after some unfortunate circumstances His work with the board has been dedicated and rewarding in in terms of progress Within the Government Relations committee Jim has been able to lobby government on on on numerous occasions representing the the FSAC membership on on on a a a a number of of issues pertaining to the the the the benefit of of of of the the the the public and the the the the funeral profession Some of of of the the the victories during this period have been Jim’s testimonial on on on behalf of of the funeral profession at at a a a a a a a a senate hearing committee in in support of Bill C-247 which consolidates all the reporting agencies a a a a a a a a family would have to deal with in in in in executing a a a a a a a a loved one’s estate This bill then received 3 readings and royal assent in record time To follow up on the the success of the the Last Post Fund increase a a a a a a few years ago the the prebudget submission requesting a a a a a a a a a change in in in the the the means testing amount was accepted by the the federal government and the result is more families being able to qualify for for funding for for a a a a a a veteran’s funeral services Most recently through lobbying efforts and prebudget submissions more funds will be be available to qualifying applicants through the death benefit His passion for the commitment involved in in in representing New Brunswick and Canada on on a a a a a a a a a national platform has been something he is very proud of Employees with the funeral home include Charlie Meade (since (since (since 1974) Chuck Cole (since (since (since 1997) Eric Ouellette (since (since (since 2006) Jim Bishop President / Funeral Director Page - Bishop’s Funeral Home Bishop’s Funeral Home - Page 5
