Paintings and sculpture range
from highly representational
to Daniel Anselmi’s artist-
painted paper collage abstract-
ions and Mark Herrington’s
creations with stone. The first
two floors of the house gallery
showcase a diversity of work
in various mediums by 35 Maine
artists.
Jane said they have built relationships with artists and clients who over the years have become friends. Their clients come from all
over the country, many of them coming back to visit year after year.
“That’s how we’ve grown. We’ve become a destination point. It’s not just people driving through Winter Harbor who decide to stop
in,” Jane said. “We have artists that show in San Francisco and who teach at Pennsylvania Academy (of the Fine Arts). And then
they show in little Winter Harbor, Maine, too.”
Littlefield Gallery has five shows a season in its outer gallery building. This season kicks off with David Estey: Improvisations from
May 22-June 22. An improvisational painter from Belfast, Maine, Estey draws on his Maine background for his works. After that,
there are two group shows, Sarah Faragher, Joseph Haroutunian, and Mark Herrington: Surpassing the Ordinary from June 22-July 19;
and Marc Leavitt, Joan Freiman, and Hugh Lassen from July 20-Aug. 16. The season finishes out with Scott Baltz’s solo show (Aug.
17-Sept 13) and finally Caren-Marie Michel and Dan West (Sept. 14-Oct. 12).
Littlefield Gallery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 26 through Oct. 12 and year-
round by appointment at 145 Main St., in Winter Harbor. It can be found online at
www.littlefieldgallery.com, and on Facebook and
Instagram. Jane and Kelly can be reached at (207)
963-6005 and (207) 838-4174 and by email at

Sculpture is an integral part of the gallery experience, both
inside and outside. Hugh Lassen’s Incumbent Form was
created with a unique hybrid of slate that is indigenous to
Western Maine. The large pieces of sculpture surrounding
the three-story house act as landmarks for visitors finding
their way through Winter Harbor to Schoodic Point.

in Cherryfield. Hugh’s sculpture will be featured in the gallery’s July 20-August 16 exhibi-
tion with Marc Leavitt’s textural flower abstractions and Joan Freiman’s loosely painted
landscapes.
SPECIAL NOTE: at press time, we learned the Littlefield Gallery is one of the top five galleries nominated for “Best Gallery in Maine”
by Down East magazine. The winner for this year will be announced at the end of August. The Littlefield Gallery was chosen “Best
Gallery in Maine for both 2017 and 2018. Congratulations to Jane and Kelly Littlefield!
