Reputations. They can often make or break someone, or something. And far too often reputations are built by dis- tractors, and not based in direct experience.
I’ve had dogs since I was a child. Dogs are unconditional love, and love is one of the best cures for stress and anxiety.
Many years ago I had a dog named Maggie. Maggie finally had to be put to sleep when the challenges of old age exceeded her capacity to enjoy her life of pampering. She lived a glorious life of chasing balls, endless begging for bacon, and this adorable but relentless habit of sticking her nose under your hand – regardless of what you were doing – to demand a pat, or ideally a cuddle.
At 50 pounds Maggie was no lap dog. Maggie had no idea. After all, a lap was a warm comfy place where belly rubs were pretty much assured. Maggie slept every night with me, carefully positioned to keep my toes warms. She wasn’t a morning type of girl. Even a morning pee could wait if Dad
