   YOUTH SERVICES
▶ SUMMER YOUTH INITIATIVES (SYI)
Summer Youth Initiative is a program for youth ages 14-18, currently in grades 9th-12th, that provides youth in Flint and Genesee County a meaningful summer work experience. Students will learn good listening skills, how to follow directions, employment procedures, and work with a diverse population in different capacities.
CREDENTIAL: N/A
PROGRAM LENGTH: 8 weeks
This initiative is made possible with funding from the Flint Genesee Chamber of Commerce.
▶ JOBS FOR MICHIGAN’S GRADUATES (JMG)
Jobs for America’s Graduates (JMG) is a nationwide dropout prevention and recovery program for youth. The statewide Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates high school program helps to keep students in school through graduation and to make a successful transition to postsecondary education, meaningful employment or enlist into the military. Students ages 14-18 who have barriers to success, including deficiencies in basic academic skills, transportation, income and economic status. Youth will learn
the following competencies: leadership, financial literacy, problem solving, career development and interpersonal skills in a fun, interactive learning environment. Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates is designed to enhance, not replace, the standard school curriculum.
CREDENTIAL: High School Diploma
PROGRAM LENGTH: 10 months
