Dear Donor,
I would like to express my most sincere and greatest gratitude for your generous contribution to the Dr. Lawrence F. Gosenfeld Scholarship.
I am a first-year medical student at Western University of Health Sciences. I grew up in Monterey Park, California and I am a first- generation college student. My path towards higher education has always been filled with financial barriers. I attended a community college for my first 2 years of my undergraduate studies despite being accepted into many prestigious universities due to financial limitations. I eventually graduated from University of California, Los Angeles where I received by Bachelor of Science in Physiological Sciences.
Attending medical school has been daunting, not only because of the sheer difficulty of medicine itself, but also because of the high cost of attendance. This scholarship makes me feel encouraged and supported to continue pursuing my dreams of becoming a doctor. At this point, I believe I will be pursuing a field in Internal Medicine as it will allow me to provide care to a wide population of patients including disadvantaged families that I highly resonate with. I hope that one day I will be able to pay this scholarship forward and contribute to the future of medicine.
