A Letter From
Raouf Ghali
Chief Executive Officer
Dear Colleagues,
This issue of Hill’s Highlights & Achievements focuses on our success in turning the corner for
our company. With 2018 now behind us, we are well on our way to new growth. Our backlog
has increased by 12% over the previous quarter, profitability has improved, and Hill has
secured several wins in the past few months, including mega-projects in Qatar, Saudi Arabia,
Egypt, and the United States. We have also been selected to support several major projects in
Europe and Latin America, and are looking forward to good news on many other significant
pursuits. As a company, we have turned the corner.
We celebrate this in several ways. First, we continue to mark the accomplishments of our
employees. Your support of our clients and their projects, whether on-site or in the office, has
always been what drives Hill’s success. We highlight several Hill professionals in this issue who
are exceeding expectations and delivering results:
• Ohio’s Adrienne Sraver, CCM, Adam Novak, and Donald Burnau Jr.
• Bahrain’s Uzair Wasif and Sharif Makki.
• California’s Mihaela Stroe, PE, LEED AP BD+C, CCM, and Jon Jordan, PE, CCM.
• Western Europe’s Pablo Arbaizar.
Each of these professionals is working on high-profile, demanding projects, and each has
earned the praise of their teams and the trust of their clients.
Second, Hill is leveraging our expertise and experience in several sectors around the globe.
Specifically, we are enjoying new and ongoing business in the growing Midwestern U.S.
Healthcare, European Hospitality, Middle East Aviation, Global Shipping, and Facilities
Management markets. Each of these markets presents distinct trends and unique challenges,
from decentralized healthcare facilities to fully automated port operations to luxury branding
to artificially intelligent building management systems, which our experts briefly discuss.
In addition, our back-office and headquarters staff continues to facilitate our work. This
includes procuring the right insurance for our company and our projects, and, most
importantly, instilling a culture of safety at Hill through increased awareness and vigilance in
all we do. As you will read, Hill has improved our safety metrics over the past year, and this is a
trend that must continue.
In related news, our Philadelphia, PA, headquarters staff will be consolidating onto the 17th
floor of 2005 Market Street this summer. This move continues our efforts to control costs at all
levels of our company, regardless of our success, and I encourage everyone to consider similar
ways to keep our operations lean.
Sincerely,
Raouf Ghali
Chief Executive Officer
